About The Position

Fort Sanders Health & Fitness Center, part of Covenant Health West, is Knoxville’s premier health and wellness destination. It is a five-star fitness facility offering state-of-the-art equipment, heated indoor and outdoor pools, tennis, racquet sports, pickleball, basketball, and childcare services. The center provides award-winning quality, extensive group fitness classes, personal training, and specialized programs like aquatics, weight management, and mind-body wellness. The BodyWORKS program extends community-based fitness classes across East Tennessee. The Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for greeting, assisting, and directing all incoming calls, visitors, deliveries, and customers, providing a strong customer service presence to ensure everyone feels welcomed.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum Experience: None.
  • Licensure Requirement: None.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phones, route callers, take messages and provide general information to callers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Greet customers, visitors, and patients while providing direction.
  • Determine the nature of their business and assist visitors and guests to various locations on the FSW campus as needed.
  • Respond in a timely manner to member requests, inquiries, and concerns. If unable to satisfy the member, locate the appropriate employee who can.
  • Check each member/guest into the Fitness Center.
  • Provide guests with a guest registration to complete and collect payment for the guest fee.
  • Follow guest check-in procedures.
  • Distribute keys and equipment.
  • Fold and disperse towels on an on-going basis.
  • Retrieve towels from laundry room and cycle towels through washer/dryer as needed to keep towels stocked.
  • Review “Read This First” book each shift worked to keep informed of any changes to classes, programs, or special activities, and for any announcements/notes pertaining to the Fitness Center operations.
  • Be knowledgeable of member names/locker numbers as well as staff names and the departments in which they work.
  • Use the established sign-up system to reserve RB, WB, and SQ for members and staff.
  • Record when PB equipment is checked out.
  • Manage program enrollment/money transactions such as guest fees, personal training fees, swim lesson fees, camp fees, etc.
  • Cooperate in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the front desk.
  • Complete all tasks that are on the closing checklist at the end of the night.
  • Assist with Perkville Rewards program by redeeming points for reward members and giving out associated merchandise.
  • Assist manager/supervisor in restocking of Perkville supplies as well as front desk inventory items.
  • Prepare daily deposit/cash drawer report for MOD.
  • Assist other departments as needed (e.g., housekeeping, youth development, aquatics, etc.).
  • Participate in special fitness center events.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Complete required education assignments annually.
  • Work toward achieving goals and objectives and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
