Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED (required).
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA standards.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Working knowledge of multi-line phone system.
  • Able to operate standard office equipment (i.e. computer, fax, copier, scanner, etc.).
  • Intermediate computer skills and experience in EMR utilization.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to sort and file materials correctly alphabetically or numerically.
  • Ability to travel to and provide coverage for other local offices as-needed.
  • Sitting, some standing, stooping and reaching.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard.
  • Correctable vision to 20/20 and hearing within a normal range for telephone contacts.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years recent experience as a Medical Receptionist in a clinical or surgical setting (preferred).
  • Previous experience in Dermatology (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Greeting patients and completing their check-in and check-out process.
  • Entering new patient information into the computer and reviewing patient charts for accuracy and verification.
  • Ensuring all signatures have been obtained.
  • Collecting payments as necessary.
  • Greeting each patient in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Screening calls, scheduling appointments and referrals.
  • Taking accurate, concise phone messages.
  • Entering complete patient demographics when making appointments.
  • Evaluating chart data to verify all information has been received, completed and signed.
  • Checking in and checking out patients.
  • Tracking patients in the reception area and communicating with patients as needed.
  • Proactively collecting patient payments.
  • Updating product inventory weekly.
  • Treating patients with dignity and empathy.
  • Fulfilling inventory orders.
  • Running end-of-day reports and balancing payment totals as a closer.
  • Distributing incoming reports and correspondence in patient charts.
  • Ensuring all phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental mail are addressed immediately.
  • Assisting other staff as needed.
  • Performing other duties assigned by management.
