About The Position

The Front Desk Agent is one of the most important faces of our hotel. From the moment guests arrive until they check out, you'll help make their stay comfortable, welcoming, and memorable. You’ll greet and assist guests, check them in and out, answer questions, make reservations, provide recommendations about the local area, handle payments, and help resolve any issues that come up during their stay. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, working with people, and no two days being exactly the same.

Requirements

  • Friendly, welcoming, and comfortable interacting with guests.
  • Professional and dependable.
  • Sales-minded and confident recommending hotel services and upgrades.
  • Able to multitask and stay organized in a busy environment.
  • Comfortable handling cash and credit card transactions.
  • A good communicator who works well with both guests and coworkers.
  • Willing to learn hotel systems and procedures.
  • Available to work the 3:00 PM–11:00 PM shift.
  • Flexible when business needs occasionally require working a different shift.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Position requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, writing, typing, grasping, and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with guests and coworkers.
  • May occasionally be required to lift or carry up to 40 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hotel or front desk experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person.
  • Previous hotel-related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet guests and provide friendly, professional service.
  • Check guests in and out efficiently and accurately.
  • Register guests, assign rooms, and accommodate special requests when possible.
  • Process payments and follow all credit card, cash-handling, and check-cashing procedures.
  • Answer phones and use proper telephone etiquette.
  • Assist guests with questions, requests, directions, and local recommendations.
  • Take same-day and future reservations and understand cancellation procedures.
  • Understand room types, locations, rates, and hotel amenities.
  • Use suggestive selling techniques to promote room upgrades and hotel services.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate room status information.
  • Communicate closely with Housekeeping regarding check-outs, late check-outs, early arrivals, room status, and special requests.
  • Communicate maintenance and repair requests to the appropriate department.
  • Properly handle guest mail, packages, and messages.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk area.
  • Attend department meetings and communicate important information to management.
  • Report unusual situations, guest concerns, or requests to the manager or assistant manager.
  • Follow all hotel safety, emergency, and accident-prevention procedures.
  • Assist other departments when needed to help ensure smooth hotel operations.
