About The Position

Veterinary Receptionist at the Veterinarian Teaching Hospital provides excellent customer service to our clients and are the first and last contact with our clients. This is an administrative position with little to no animal handling. Our department is responsible for providing excellent customer service by answering the phones, checking in/out clients, and other admin tasks as assigned. Priority will be given to applicants who have veterinary background (clinic, terminology, etc.) and/or experience. This position will be given a monthly set schedule which will depend on the hospital needs for coverage. We are looking for someone who is flexible and willing to cover shifts during the days/times mentioned (Monday-Friday, 6:30am-6pm). This position will need to have flexibility to work any of those shift times Monday through Friday, along with reliability during inclement weather. This work unit exists to provide administration and direction of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and provide a support facility for service to the general public and referring veterinarians. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 6 months of general clerical experience.
  • 12 months of forward-facing customer service experience
  • This is an essential worker position and must be willing and able to report to work as directed to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay or interruption even in times of inclement weather.
  • These positions will have working hours between 6:30 AM-6:00PM, Monday through Friday with full flexibility within those days and hours and may be asked to adjust work schedule to meet the needs of the department and hospital.
  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Call center, business office, medical record, and/or reception experience.
  • Experience working in the veterinary or human medicine field.
  • Demonstrated experience with online scheduling systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (assessed via written materials and during interview process).
  • Independent decision-making skills (assessed during interview process).
  • Flexibility – willing and able to work in several departments and flex to the needs and norms of each area.

Responsibilities

  • Enter/verify client and patient demographic information into our electronic software
  • Client check in and check out for services as assigned (Including knowledge of hospital policies and consent forms required)
  • Utilize Push to Talk phones, TEAMS application, and email technology to communicate with extended team members
  • Accept payments (cash, check, credit card, Care Credit) for deposits and dismissals during each visit, and other daily administrative tasks as assigned
  • Works directly with extended medical teams as necessary to understand and explain invoices/estimates to clients
