About The Position

The Head Coach is a key individual in the MCAS athletic program, responsible for promoting the highest type of conduct from each athlete. This role involves overseeing the total sport program, K-12, with the assistance of assistant coaches and providing guidance to all coaching staff. The coach will also communicate with the Athletic Director, organize and coach all activities and practices, and attend required meetings. Documentation, IHSAA/NFHS coach certification, monitoring academic performance, leading fundraising efforts, and assuming other necessary duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Principal are also key aspects of this position. The coach must be present at all practices and contests, ensuring participant safety and supervision, and will be accountable for all equipment and uniforms.

Requirements

  • IHSAA/NFHS coach certification program completion
  • Ability to provide documentation in regards to physicals; consent; rosters; awards; eligibility; emergency medical forms; and any other required information in the time frame set forth by the Athletic Department
  • Ability to monitor academic performance and assist with college opportunities
  • Ability to lead fundraising efforts for the sport program
  • Ability to be present at all practices and contests, providing assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant.
  • Ability to ensure that athletes are supervised at all times.
  • Accountability for all equipment and uniforms including the safety, inventory, and storage.
  • Ability to submit an annual update of inventory to the Athletic Department promptly after the season ends.
  • Adherence to all District, School, and Athletic Department policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor academic performance and assist with college opportunities
  • Lead fundraising effort for the sport program
  • Assumes duties which the Athletic Director or Principal deem necessary for the improvement of the program
  • Be present at all practices and contests, providing assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant.
  • Ensure that athletes are supervised at all times.
  • Will be accountable for all equipment and uniforms including the safety, inventory, and storage.
  • Will be required to submit an annual update of inventory to the Athletic Department promptly after the season ends.
  • Follow all District, School, and Athletic Department policies and procedures.
