About The Position

Louisiana State University of Alexandria (LSUA) is seeking a Freshman Admission Counselor to process admission applications for both on-campus and online first-time freshman applicants. This role involves reviewing and evaluating transcripts, test scores, and credit by examination to determine admissibility. The counselor will finalize admission decisions, update institutional data, and counsel prospective students on admission requirements and processes. Additionally, the position requires maintaining knowledge of curricula to assist students with academic program selection, recruiting prospective students at high schools and community events, and assisting with special events on campus. The Freshman Admission Counselor will perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Admissions, Director of Recruiting, and/or the Associate Vice-Chancellor of Enrollment Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree as of May 2026 required from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, verbally, and in writing
  • Ability to travel, including overnight travel
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, while remaining organized
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the university with a positive and professional image
  • Ability to present information to audiences, both small and large
  • Experience with working with a team to achieve goals
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and clear driving record

Responsibilities

  • Process admission applications and determine admissibility for on-campus first-time freshman
  • Process admission applications and determine admissibility of online first-time freshman applicants
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate all transcripts, test scores and credit by examination
  • Finalize admission decisions and update institutional data after high school graduation
  • Counsel prospective on-campus students on admission requirements and processes
  • Maintain working knowledge of curricula for the benefit of aiding prospective students with selecting an academic program
  • Recruit prospective students at high schools/community events as needed
  • Assist with special events on campus as needed
  • Performs other tasks that may be assigned by the Director of Admissions, Director of Recruiting and/or the Associate Vice-Chancellor of Enrollment Management
