About The Position

Assist customers with over-the-counter service and provide customer service throughout the Fresh Foods department. Operate and maintain fresh food production areas, including Deli, Seafood, and Pizza; prepare those areas for sales; fry food; operate the rotisserie oven; and prepare ready-to-bake and baked pizzas. Receive inventory, verify ordered products, and stock designated areas. Provide friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers. The role generally works 6–8-hour shifts between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. in a 24/7 operation. Employees must follow company policies and applicable laws; responsibilities and qualifications may vary.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.
Food Handlers Certification, as required by state law.
Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Effective hearing and speech communication to receive orders and provide customer service.
Ability to conduct visual inspections; read and follow production guides, recipes, and product labels; and record production quantities and temperature readings on proper forms.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic and compute weights and measures.
Mental alertness when performing work involving potential hazards, procedures, equipment, and work aides.
Ability to complete training and meet minimum productivity and accuracy standards.
Ability to wear a hair net, beard net, gloves, and other required personal protective equipment.
Ability to use cleaning chemicals and handle food products.
Ability to stand, walk, and move rapidly for extended periods; bend, stoop, twist, turn, and reach frequently, including over counters and in tight spaces.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and reach, push, and pull racks.
Ability to handle refrigerated goods at temperatures from -20°F to 28°F and work around machinery emitting heat, including a 400°F rotisserie and 325°F hot shortening.
Ability to perform primary duties efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities

Welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers while maintaining a friendly, enthusiastic service atmosphere.
Take customer orders, answer questions, and perform suggestive selling.
Prepare, stock, display, straighten, and rotate products in the Deli, Seafood, and Pizza areas.
Prepare production items according to recipes, food safety procedures, and specified cooking times.
Handle frozen products and inspect products for quality and freshness.
Prepare display cases by arranging products in fresh pans, rotating and replenishing products, and returning products as appropriate.
Place required product signage, including pricing, descriptions, code dates, and COOL information.
Clean and maintain department equipment, including breaking down and reassembling equipment, operating the dishwasher, hand-washing dishes, and sanitizing equipment parts.
Maintain a clean and sanitary department, including cleaning work surfaces, wrapping stations, floors, coolers, and display counters, and taking trash and paper to the appropriate balers.
Receive inventory, verify ordered products and orders, and stock products.
Follow sanitary guidelines and complete associated records.
Understand and follow food safety procedures and requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
