About The Position

St. Luke’s School, a secular, college-preparatory day school serving grades 5 through 12, seeks a part-time French teacher to teach 1 or 2 sections of high school French. The World Language program is recognized for its innovations, use of cutting-edge technology, and total immersion classes. The French program has consistently been awarded the status of “AATF Exemplary French Program with Distinction.” This position offers the flexibility of a part-time schedule, with classes meeting 4 times per six-day cycle for 60 minutes each. Preparation and grading can be done remotely, with on-campus presence required for teaching and occasional meetings. New employees attend a week-long orientation in August.

Requirements

Fluency in French
Prior experience teaching French at the middle school, high school, or college level
Desire and ability to build authentic relationships with students
Ability to teach rich content with creative pedagogy
Superb oral and written communication skills
Flexibility and strong organizational skills
Confidence using educational technology
Excellent time management
Capacity to develop students’ critical thinking and analytical skills
Strong cultural competency skills, with demonstrated commitment to furthering an equitable and inclusive school community

Responsibilities

Teach part-time course load of 1 or 2 sections of high school French
Attend monthly Department meetings and occasional other required meetings in person or via Zoom
Make arrangements to provide extra help for students as needed
Provide about 2 hours of extra help in total to students each week, on average
