About The Position

Welocalize is seeking freelance translators with immediate availability to translate patents from French into English. The ideal candidate will have native-level fluency in English and strong experience in translating and proofreading patents across various technical fields including Chemistry, Biology, Electricity, Computer Science, and Mechanics. This remote, freelance position involves translating patent-related content while ensuring the original meaning is conveyed accurately and readably for the target audience, adhering to specific client style guides and instructions. The role requires effective communication and prompt responses in English.

Requirements

• Native fluency in English.
• Minimum of two years' experience translating and reviewing content in patent fields.
• Degree in linguistics, translation, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to translate, copy edit, MTPE (Machine Translation Post-Editing), QC (Quality Control), and LQA (Linguistic Quality Assurance).

Nice To Haves

• Experience in translating patents in Chemistry, Biology, Electricity, Computer Science, and Mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Translate patent-related content from French into English, ensuring original meaning is conveyed in a readable and understandable manner for the target audience.
• Adhere to client style guides and instructions, including translation processes and CAT tool usage.
