About The Position

The primary mission focus of the Freight Supervisor is within Material Movement, supervising freight services to include the operation of a Freight Shipping Point and all administrative and responsibilities associated with the process outbound freight shipments and shipping of hazardous and sensitive materials. This includes processing and documenting freight for shipment, preparing Bills of Lading (BL), and verifying Transportation Account Codes (TAC) through the Transportation Global Edit Table (TGET) IAW Rules and Accessorial Services Governing the Department of Defense Freight Traffic by Rail Carriers, (SDDC Freight Traffic Rules, and Publication No. 10B), DTR Part II, Regulations CFR Title 49 and other applicable regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ work experience in a supervisor capacity required, preferably in a LTL environment.
  • Must have formal supervisor skills in the Transportation Department.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense Freight Traffic rules and regulations, SDDC Freight Traffic Rules, DTR Part II, Regulations CFR Title 49 and other applicable regulations.
  • Must be computer literate, proficient in MS Windows-based applications, as well as MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • US Citizen
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 18 years of age
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment and background checks related to the position
  • Valid state driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Prior freight industry experience preferred.
  • HAZMAT certified in accordance with the Defense Transportation Regulation, Part II, Chapter 204 may be required.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Forklift certified, OSHA and/or Hazmat training experience preferred.
