Leidos is seeking licensed behavioral health professionals to join our Child and Youth Behavioral, Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC) team to support Fort Riley, KS. This role is crucial in supporting U.S. military service members and their families through military life adjustments. The Child and Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Counselor (CYB-MFLC) provides non-medical support, including counseling, consultation, and outreach, to eligible faculty, staff, parents, children, and youth. This preventive counseling aims to address issues before they escalate into greater challenges, recognizing the unique emotional and environmental stresses faced by military children. The position offers an opportunity to serve children and youth in settings like Child Development Centers (CDCs) for ages 0-5, and before/after-school care centers. Counselors will visually observe, participate in, and engage in activities with children and youth, providing coaching and guidance to staff and parents, and modeling behavior management techniques. The role also involves offering presentations on social skills development and social-emotional learning, promoting creativity and positivity, building rapport with families at installation and community events, and assisting children with transitions. Regular in-service training and communication of installation trends to Team Leads are also part of the responsibilities. Additional duties may include responding to emergent situations across various locations on a military installation, including traversing long distances and working in outdoor weather conditions. Counselors may need to comply with site-specific requirements for designated work locations.
