About The Position

CrossCountry Freight Solutions is hiring a part-time Freight Handler in St. Louis, Missouri. This safety-sensitive warehouse position is responsible for loading and unloading freight from trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, and/or handcarts. Freight Handlers are trained and certified to operate safety-sensitive equipment efficiently. The position uses handheld scanners to track and document freight, identifies and stages inbound freight, and checks freight condition against quality standards. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a shift option of 5 a.m.–9 a.m. or 1 p.m.–6 p.m. The position pays $23.00 per hour and reports to the Service Center Manager.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have at least six months of verifiable forklift experience.
Demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Successfully complete a pre-employment skills assessment.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 90 pounds.
Frequently squat and crouch to handle freight.
Safely maneuver freight or pallets weighing up to 2,500 pounds onto a dolly or cart with mechanical aid, using force of up to 130 pounds, in various environments and conditions.
Carry freight weighing up to 40 pounds for up to 20 feet.
Help load and unload full trailers of freight weighing up to 45,000 pounds with mechanical aid.
Open and close cargo doors and climb into and out of vehicles.

Responsibilities

Safely load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, and/or handcarts.
Use handheld scanners to track and document freight through the network.
Accurately identify, sticker, and stage inbound freight.
Verify freight condition to assure quality standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
