About The Position

CrossCountry Freight Solutions (CCFS) is hiring a Freight Handler in Omaha, Nebraska. This safety-sensitive warehouse position is responsible for loading and unloading freight from trailers using a forklift, pallet jack, and/or handcart. Freight Handlers are trained and certified to operate safety-sensitive equipment efficiently. The role uses handheld scanners to track and document freight, identifies and stages inbound freight, and verifies freight condition to ensure quality standards. The shift is Sunday through Friday, 11:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., at $23.00 per hour. The position reports to the Operations Supervisor and has no direct reports.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
At least six months of verifiable forklift experience.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Must successfully complete a pre-employment skills assessment.
Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 90 pounds.
Must frequently squat and crouch to handle freight.
Must safely maneuver freight or pallets weighing up to 2,500 pounds onto a dolly or cart with a force of up to 130 pounds, with mechanical aid.
Must carry freight weighing up to 40 pounds for up to 20 feet.
Must help load and unload full trailers of freight weighing up to 45,000 pounds with mechanical aid.
Must open and close cargo doors and climb into and out of vehicles.

Responsibilities

Safely load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, and/or handcarts.
Use handheld scanners to track and document freight through the network.
Accurately identify, sticker, and stage inbound freight.
Verify freight condition to ensure quality standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
