AECOM is seeking Freeway Operators responsible for the principal monitoring of the freeway management systems (FMS) and must possess strong familiarity of the District’s freeway system. All TMC Operators shall be familiar with both freeway and arterial related ITS applications. There are 1st and 2nd shift opportunities. This role involves monitoring the status of the freeway using CCTV, Road Ranger Service Patrols, detector data, etc., to detect, confirm, update, and respond to scheduled and unscheduled traffic and incident management events, congestion, and travel time imbalances. Operators will enter all events into SunGuide software and disseminate information using ITS devices, website, and Florida 511 (FL511) system. Coordination with other Control Room staff, law enforcement, and external agencies is crucial, as is dispatching Road Ranger Service Patrols and managing Wrong Way Driver events. The role also includes detecting and reporting equipment faults, monitoring and managing arterial operations, performing daily ITS infrastructure checks, and coordinating with maintenance staff. Operators must follow FDOT District 1 policies and procedures, including specific time requirements for event confirmation, dispatching, and system updates. Responsibilities extend to assisting with report data collection, configuration changes in SunGuide, producing periodic operations reports, and coordinating with FDOT/FHP for incident response vendors. Operators will manage events and congestion using the SunGuide GUI and its devices, inform Emergency Services of traffic incidents, and perform other assigned tasks.
