Freelance Photographer
About The Position
Wellcom is seeking an experienced photographer to join its freelance pool and work at Christie’s Auction House photographing auction lots. The photographer will collaborate with full-time and freelance teams to create elevated imagery of art, artifacts, and collectibles across Christie’s categories. All photography work takes place in studios and is supported by production and equipment teams. Assignments are at Christie’s Rockefeller Center location or Christie’s Fine Art Storage in Red Hook, Brooklyn, depending on the department, sale, and lots. Work hours are generally weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to work alongside the unionized art handling team.
Requirements
- 7–10 years of experience shooting in a studio environment, particularly still life and/or art reproduction.
- Mastery of studio lighting.
- Advanced understanding of color management.
- Advanced working knowledge of Capture One and Adobe Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines without compromising image capture quality or file management.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to take feedback from production.
- Provide an updated portfolio.

Responsibilities
- Capture imagery that meets the client’s visual standards and global style guides.
- Follow daily workflows to ensure work is photographed, named appropriately, backed up, uploaded, and included in daily reporting.
- Maintain open communication with the production team and, where instructed, department members.
