Freelance Photographer
About The Position
Wellcom is seeking an experienced photographer to join its freelance pool and work at Christie’s Auction House photographing auction lots. The photographer collaborates with full-time and freelance teams to produce elevated imagery of art, artifacts, and collectibles, working entirely in studio with support from production and equipment teams. The role is generally scheduled on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to work alongside Christie’s unionized art-handling team. Depending on the department, sale, or lot, work takes place onsite at Christie’s Rockefeller Center location or at Christie’s Fine Art Storage in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
Requirements
- 7–10 years of experience shooting in a studio environment, particularly still life and/or art reproduction.
- Mastery of studio lighting.
- Advanced understanding of color management.
- Advanced working knowledge of Capture One and Adobe Suite.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines without compromising capture quality or file management.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to take feedback from production.
- Provide an updated portfolio.

Responsibilities
- Capture imagery that meets the visual standards set by the client and global style guides.
- Follow the daily workflow to ensure all work is photographed, appropriately named, backed up, uploaded, and accounted for in daily reporting.
- Maintain open communication with the production team and, when instructed, department members.
