About The Position

Inkitt is seeking a freelance ghostwriter to create full-length romance novels and series installments for its Galatea platform. The role involves immersing yourself in an existing series, pitching concepts for subsequent books, and developing and writing those books. It is a highly creative position spanning story ideation, iteration, and execution, with responsibility for managing multiple books in a series and meeting regular delivery milestones. The writer will collaborate with authors and Inkitt’s in-house agentic LLM tools, while maintaining continuity and consistency across series.

Requirements

Love romance and read it frequently; understand romance tropes and why they work.
Have written long-form fiction. Relevant experience may include published or self-published work, Kindle Unlimited titles, web serials, fanfiction with a following, or ghostwriting credits.
Understand pacing, chapter hooks, and cliffhangers, and write for readers rather than prizes.
Be excited to collaborate with AI as part of the creative process or already use AI in that way.
Be able to match a tone or house style and accept editorial feedback without ego.
Write clean, native-level English.
Meet deadlines without being chased.

Nice To Haves

Experience with serialized or episodic fiction, such as Wattpad, Radish, Kindle Vella, or webnovels.
Experience publishing your own book-length work.
Range across subgenres and heat levels.
Curiosity about reader behavior, including where readers stop reading and what they comment on.

Responsibilities

Manage the process of developing and delivering multiple books in a series.
Read existing books, develop story concepts, pitch them, iterate on them, and write new books based on the concepts.
Collaborate with authors and in-house agentic LLM tools during story development.
Maintain continuity and consistency across series.
Meet delivery milestones at a regular cadence.
