About The Position

The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) aims to protect and promote health and ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents. This role focuses on protecting the integrity of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) by investigating potential fraud, waste, and abuse to safeguard public resources and ensure benefits reach eligible households. The position involves conducting interviews, field investigations, analyzing information, and pursuing claims to uphold accountability, compliance, and public trust.

Requirements

Four years of experience in social services; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus one year of experience in social services; OR A bachelor's degree plus one year of experience in social services; OR A bachelor’s degree in social work or a master's degree in a social services field or education.
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

Receives, reviews, and evaluates allegations of potential SNAP fraud, trafficking, misuse, waste, or abuse to determine whether further investigation is warranted.
Conducts investigations of suspected SNAP violations and overpayments by gathering and analyzing relevant case, household, employment, financial, and other supporting information.
Verifies information through interviews, records research, field visits, and other investigative methods to identify discrepancies and establish the facts of each case.
Conducts interviews with SNAP recipients, household members, employers, community members, and other relevant parties to obtain and document investigative information.
Determines whether investigative findings support an administrative claim, criminal referral, or other appropriate action and prepares required documentation.
Pursues the recovery of ineligible SNAP benefits through established administrative or criminal claim processes.
Prepares investigative reports and documentation and participates in court proceedings, hearings, and other activities necessary to support program integrity and compliance with federal and state SNAP requirements.
