About The Position

This role may be a fit for you if you are interested in joining a dynamic data and analytics team supporting the fraud function for the cards and deposits businesses at Barclays. You will be part of a global analytics team that manages authentication and money-movement fraud rules and models to optimize the effectiveness of fraud strategies and policies while driving significant impact to the fraud business.

Requirements

  • Background in data analytics, data engineering, statistics, data science, information management, or related analytical disciplines
  • Experience utilizing SQL, SAS, Unix, Oracle, and other data analysis tools to extract, analyze, and interpret complex datasets
  • Proven ability to perform data-driven and statistical analysis to support fraud strategy development, risk assessment, and fraud loss reduction
  • Knowledge in leveraging analytics to enhance fraud detection capabilities, optimize risk systems, and improve operational performance
  • Experience collaborating with technical teams, business partners, and key stakeholders to enhance existing tools, processes, and business outcomes
  • Requires in-depth technical knowledge and experience in their assigned area of expertise
  • Thorough understanding of the underlying principles and concepts within the area of expertise
  • Make evaluative judgements based on the analysis of factual information, paying attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI, machine-learning, Python, Databricks and data visualization tools, such as Tableau is a plus
  • Ability to partner with data engineering teams to support the design, optimization and scalability of data models, warehouses, and ETL pipelines
  • Experience with data and strategy governance and controls to ensure proper documentation, risk ratings and controls are in place for all rule and model executions

Responsibilities

  • Investigation and analysis of data issues related to quality, lineage, controls, and authoritative source identification, documenting data sources, methodologies, and quality findings with recommendations for improvement.
  • Designing and building data pipelines to automate data movement and processing.
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques to large datasets to uncover trends and correlations, develop validated logical data models, and translate insights into actionable business recommendations that drive operational and process improvements, leveraging machine learning/AI.
  • Through data-driven analysis, translate analytical findings into actionable business recommendations, identifying opportunities for operational and process improvements.
  • Design and create interactive dashboards and visual reports using applicable tools and automate reporting processes for regular and ad-hoc stakeholder needs.
  • They lead and supervise a team, guiding and supporting professional development, allocating work requirements and coordinating team resources.
  • Partner with other functions and business areas.
  • Escalate breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
  • Take responsibility for embedding new policies/ procedures adopted due to risk mitigation.
  • Advise and influence decision making within own area of expertise.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work you own or contribute to. Deliver your work and areas of responsibility in line with relevant rules, regulation and codes of conduct.
  • Maintain and continually build an understanding of how own sub-function integrates with function, alongside knowledge of the organisations products, services and processes within the function.
  • Demonstrate understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
  • Resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and will be guided by precedents.
  • Guide and persuade team members and communicate complex / sensitive information.
  • Act as contact point for stakeholders outside of the immediate function, while building a network of contacts outside team and external to the organisation.
