About The Position

PGS Worldwide is seeking Secret-Cleared FPGA Engineers in Tucson, Arizona for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. These positions will support the architecture, development, verification, integration, and production release of FPGA designs used in advanced defense systems. Engineers will work with VHDL, major FPGA device families, embedded processing, high-speed interfaces, and digital signal-processing applications while supporting designs from requirements definition through integration and test.

Requirements

Experience developing and/or verifying FPGA designs.
Experience with digital design and VHDL coding.
Experience with FPGA devices and development tools from vendors such as Xilinx, Altera, and/or Microsemi.
Experience developing FPGA solutions for system-level applications.
Experience supporting FPGA integration and debugging.
Ability to translate system-level requirements into FPGA requirements.
Experience architecting FPGA-based systems, including parts, interfaces, and system concepts.
Experience developing reliable and maintainable VHDL designs.
Experience with FPGA simulation, place-and-route, integration, and test.
Experience verifying FPGA designs against technical requirements.
Ability to create and maintain engineering documentation, including requirements and verification plans.
Ability to work effectively with circuit-card designers, systems engineers, and other engineering disciplines.
Mid- and senior-level openings require 5+ years of relevant FPGA or digital design experience.
U.S. citizenship required.
Active U.S. Secret security clearance required to start.

Nice To Haves

Radar signal-processing experience.
Image-processing experience involving visual or infrared sensors.
Embedded systems experience using ARM, MicroBlaze, or Nios processors.
Experience with gigabit serial interfaces and multi-gigabit transceivers.
Experience with RF or electro-optical digital signal processing.
Experience with constrained-random verification using SystemVerilog and UVM.
Experience using emulation platforms such as Veloce.
Experience with embedded processing and processor interfaces.
Experience with configurable logic, controls, and data-link applications.
Technical leadership or project execution experience.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver production-quality FPGA releases from proof of concept through production.
Architect FPGA-based systems and define parts, interfaces, and Concepts of Operations.
Translate system requirements into FPGA design requirements.
Design and code FPGA functionality using VHDL.
Develop designs supporting high-speed digital, RF, electro-optical, embedded-processing, control, and data-link applications.
Perform simulation, implementation, place-and-route, and design integration activities.
Verify designs using directed and constrained-random testing techniques.
Track functional and code coverage during verification.
Support hands-on hardware integration and debugging.
Collaborate with circuit-card designers and systems engineers throughout development.
Create engineering documentation including requirements, verification plans, and user guides.
Support internal and external technical reviews.
Senior-level engineers may provide technical leadership and help drive execution against program schedules and budgets.
