FPGA Development Engineer

General Dynamics Mission Systems•Manassas, VA
•Onsite

About The Position

The FPGA Development Engineer designs digital electronics, including FPGA development and circuit design, and is responsible for defining, designing, verifying, and documenting those systems. The role determines architecture, system simulation, and detailed design approaches; defines module interfaces and other aspects of device design and simulation; and evaluates the design process flow, including high-level design, synthesis, place and route, timing, and power utilization. The engineer creates technical engineering products using appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools; develops and modifies firmware-related processes and documentation; creates test and simulation plans with functional criteria; verifies test results and analyzes performance; and performs verification and validation on target hardware. The role also improves FPGA organizational processes and supports legacy products and system qualification. The position works with Systems and Software Engineering to ensure system-level functionality and may involve understanding SoC designs with embedded processors on FPGA, application programming on embedded processors, and reverse engineering existing designs to update functionality for new requirements. This is a fully on-site position at the Manassas, Virginia facility. A DoD Secret security clearance is required at hire, and U.S. citizenship is required.
