FP&A Manager

About The Position

The FP&A Manager is a senior individual contributor who owns the core financial models that underpin Board-level planning and decision-making. This role sits at the centre of the company's forecasting, budgeting, and scenario work, translating operational data into models that leadership and the Board rely on directly. The person in this role is expected to be deeply knowledgeable about the mechanics of the business, and to be one of the few people in the company with a broad, holistic view of all the operating inputs that feed the revenue model and how they interact with one another. It works closely with the CFO and interfaces directly with Talent.com's Senior Leadership Team. The role leads a small analyst function without carrying full people-management authority: it sets analytical standards, reviews others' work, and mentors more junior analysts, while remaining hands-on in the models themselves. The ideal candidate is rigorous, hands-on, and energized by ownership of work that reaches the highest level of the business: accuracy, clarity, and the ability to defend the numbers are central to how this role operates.

Requirements

  • Proven FP&A or financial analysis experience, ideally including ownership of models used for senior or Board-level decision-making.
  • Hands-on experience in both revenue forecasting and OPEX management, with the ability to move fluently between top-line and cost-side analysis.
  • Experience spearheading or heavily contributing to an annual budgeting process end to end.
  • Advanced financial modelling skills, with a hands-on, investigative, and data-driven approach and strong attention to accuracy across a broad and varied surface area.
  • Fluency with financial systems and modelling tools, and a track record of applying automation to improve efficiency or reduce error.
  • Strong communication skills, with demonstrated ability to present financial analysis to senior stakeholders — including the CFO and Senior Leadership Team — and defend the numbers.
  • A commercial mindset, with clear understanding of how operational and financial decisions affect revenue and contribution margin, and genuine curiosity about the mechanics of the business as a whole.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience preparing or contributing to Board-level financial materials.
  • Familiarity with the tech, SaaS, or platform business model, or comfort building financial structure in a growing business.
  • Experience using AI tools to support analysis and modelling — or, at minimum, genuine curiosity about applying AI to FP&A work.

Responsibilities

  • Own the core financial models used directly for strategic planning, including the revenue model, operating plan, long-range forecast, and scenario models — spanning both revenue forecasting and OPEX management.
  • Spearhead the company's end-to-end annual budgeting process, from timeline and template design through department-level input gathering, consolidation, and final Board-ready presentation.
  • Build and maintain models that are transparent, auditable, and structured so that assumptions and levers are clear and easy to adjust.
  • Own the integrity of the numbers end to end: from source data through model logic to the figures presented in Board materials.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual variance analysis against plan, surfacing the drivers behind the numbers rather than the numbers alone.
  • Act as a critical cross-functional coordinator: identify trends and variances by comparing actuals against the revenue model, surface findings to commercial and operating teams, and coordinate investigation and resolution — conducting hands-on investigation alongside close coordination with the data and commercial teams.
  • Serve as the go-to finance partner for department leads and operational/commercial teams, building and challenging their budgets and holding the line on assumptions where needed.
  • Turn analysis into clear, defensible recommendations, and present financial analysis, forecasts, and outcomes to the CFO, Senior Leadership Team, and, where required, in Board materials.
  • Set analytical standards and review the work of junior analysts, acting as the quality-control point for the FP&A function.
  • Mentor and develop analysts on modelling technique, financial reasoning, and stakeholder communication.
  • Coordinate day-to-day workload and prioritization across the analyst function, driving improvements in the quality, consistency, and turnaround of deliverables through process and standards rather than headcount authority (this role does not carry full people-management authority — hiring, formal performance reviews — for the team).
  • Own and continuously improve the tools, templates, and processes behind forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Maintain a clear distinction between model assumptions (adjustable by design) and reported actuals, with version control and documented change management.
  • Identify and drive automation and efficiency opportunities across FP&A workflows, reducing manual effort and error risk.
  • Ensure financial data flows cleanly between source systems and the models, working closely and continuously with the data team to keep inputs reliable, resolve data-quality issues, and evolve the underlying data infrastructure that feeds the revenue model.
