Fountain Attendant Lead - Grand Canyon South Rim
About The Position
The Fountain Attendant Lead works in the Bright Angel Fountain at Grand Canyon National Park’s South Rim. This role leads associates in providing fast, friendly guest service by taking, assembling, packaging, and delivering orders in a fast-paced environment. The position is full-time and year-round, with a typical schedule of 40 hours over five days per week and possible evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. Pay is $16.80 per hour. The role combines guest service and food-service operations with team leadership. The lead helps manage inventory and product orders, oversees stocking, cleaning, sanitizing, and service tasks, and communicates stock needs or concerns to management. The position also involves using and training associates on barista equipment and a sandwich press, operating the cash register, following sanitation and safety policies, and cross-training for attendant/cashier duties in the employee dining room as needed. The job is based at the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Employee amenities include low-cost dormitory-style housing, on-site cafeteria-style meals, free on-site laundry, shuttle service, and limited-bandwidth Wi-Fi. Requirements
- Previous fast-food or food-service experience.
- Good verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively convey instructions to new employees.
- Ability to stand for long periods while working.
- Ability to courteously interact with a broad cross-section of guests.
- Availability to work evening shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to operate a cash register to company standards.
- Ability to stand, walk, handle, reach outward, and lift or carry up to 20 pounds constantly.
- Ability to reach above, lift or carry up to 50 pounds, and push or pull up to 100 pounds frequently.
- Ability to climb, squat or kneel, bend, and lift or carry up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Responsibilities
- Greet and serve guests according to company standards.
- Assist with inventory and orders for products needed for the Bright Angel Fountain.
- Complete opening and closing side duties properly and as instructed.
- Ensure sanitation procedures are followed and maintained.
- Stock ice cream, soda, and other items as necessary.
- Lead café attendants in completing stocking, cleaning and sanitizing, and guest-service tasks.
- Communicate with the management team when stock levels are low or when other issues or concerns require their attention.
- Understand how to utilize and clean barista equipment and the sandwich press, and train associates on their use.
- Adhere to all safety and risk-management policies.
- Operate the cash register and handle funds according to company policy.
- Wear required personal protective equipment while performing the job.
- Cross-train for Attendant/Cashier duties in the employee dining room as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
