Founding Software Engineer, Full-Stack & Platform

VincerBoston, MA
$160,000 - $190,000Hybrid

About The Position

Vincer is building a voice-first AI decision support system for life sciences sales reps who operate in complex environments. The system needs to understand unstructured situations, assemble context, retrieve approved knowledge, orchestrate AI systems, know when to escalate, and respond quickly to feel conversational. This role is for a founding engineer who will own the production spine of this voice-first AI system and influence its technical direction. The engineer will inherit a working MVP and have significant input into the future roadmap. The role involves owning the product platform, including backend services, APIs, data flows, real-time communication, and infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on security, compliance, auditability, reliability, and trust due to the enterprise life sciences customer base. Low latency is a critical product requirement for natural conversational flow. The system is agentic, meaning it acts on its own initiative, coordinating multiple models and data sources, and making judgment calls on handling, routing, or escalating issues. Ensuring this autonomous behavior is reliable, observable, and safe in a regulated environment is a key engineering challenge.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of full-time software engineering, building full-stack systems with a strong backend, API, and platform orientation.
  • Experience with real-time, streaming, or low-latency systems: voice, video, collaboration, gaming, or similar.
  • Experience owning cloud infrastructure end to end on a major provider.
  • Located in Boston or NYC.
  • Understand that regular in-person collaboration is non-negotiable.

Nice To Haves

  • Worked in a startup environment in recent years and wants to join a new venture at its earliest stages.
  • Understand that early product development requires fast iteration across platform, AI, systems, and customer learning.
  • Enterprise software delivery, especially in a regulated industry (healthcare, finance, or similar).
  • Experience integrating with enterprise SaaS and customer data systems, such as CRM, identity, or communication platforms (i.e. Slack, Teams, etc.).
  • Experience with non-deterministic systems in production, and opinions about how to evaluate and roll back behavior you can't unit-test.
  • Enough frontend range to ship internal tools and customer-facing data interfaces without a dedicated frontend team.
  • Strong architecture and database instincts.
  • Knows when boring proven technology is the right answer and when the product genuinely needs something specialized.
  • Uses modern AI coding tools as a matter of course.
  • Expects a small team to ship beyond its size.
  • Wants broad ownership, fast decisions, and the accountability that comes with them.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the real-time systems that make voice interactions fast, resilient, and natural in the field.
  • Build the runtime behind a multi-agent system that acts on its own initiative: triggering, state, memory, and the guardrails that make autonomous behavior safe for enterprise customers.
  • Build the integration layer that connects Vincer to the systems reps and managers already live in: CRM (Veeva, Salesforce), Slack, Teams, and customer data APIs.
  • Expand the backend services and cloud infrastructure behind live customer use, and own what that requires: observability, deployment, reliability, cost.
  • Build the data foundation for customer workflows, reporting, and auditability.
  • Establish the security and compliance posture that enterprise life sciences customers require, with guidance from advisors who have implemented AI systems inside life sciences organizations.
  • Ship internal tools, customer-facing data interfaces, and simple web/mobile experiences.

Benefits

  • Equity
