Founding Growth Lead

HobbesSan Francisco, CA
Onsite

About The Position

Hobbes is building intelligent agents that deeply understand a product to sell, implement, support, and learn from customer conversations. The company uses code as the source of truth for Product Intelligence and leverages customer interactions for Conversational Intelligence, providing insights that would otherwise be missed. Hobbes has raised $6M and is seeking its first growth leader to build the market for its product, which turns website traffic into qualified pipeline. This role is responsible for defining the category, crafting the narrative, optimizing the website, packaging customer proof, and establishing a content and distribution engine. The Founding Growth Lead will work directly with the CEO on the company narrative, launches, customer stories, founder-led distribution, and building the initial growth system.

Requirements

  • 0-1 growth leadership experience: a marketer who writes like a founder and builds systems like an operator.
  • Previous experience as the first or an early growth/marketing person at a B2B startup (ideally seed to Series A).
  • Proven ability to write effectively (not manage writers or brief agencies).
  • Demonstrated ownership of pipeline or revenue outcomes, with specific numbers to share.
  • Technical curiosity: interest in codebases, agents, sandboxes, evals, and product architecture.
  • Understanding of B2B buying and products that require explanation.
  • Strong product taste: ability to identify vague copy, overly clever pages, or campaigns lacking insight.
  • Ability to translate messy customer conversations into clean market insights.
  • Capacity to operate as a one-person team for the initial 6 months.
  • Willingness to work in person in San Francisco.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience defining a new category.
  • Belief that great growth starts with sharp thinking, clear writing, and real customer proof.
  • Desire to build the growth engine for a sales product that can expand across product operations.
  • Enjoyment of work that changes how a company talks, sells, hires, and builds.

Responsibilities

  • Define the market category for Product Intelligence and Conversational Intelligence.
  • Craft and communicate the company narrative, making concepts like Product Intelligence, Conversational Intelligence, and self-improving demo agents clear and urgent.
  • Optimize the company website to clearly express the category and generate qualified pipeline.
  • Write core marketing assets including homepage copy, landing pages, case studies, launch posts, founder posts, outbound angles, sales one-pagers, and emails.
  • Translate customer calls, transcripts, live demo conversations, onboarding wins, usage data, and outcomes into compelling customer stories.
  • Build distribution loops across content, search, founder-led social, events, partnerships, outbound, and product-led moments.
  • Translate technical concepts like code intelligence, sandboxes, agent behavior, and product operations into language understandable by buyers.
  • Build the initial growth system from scratch, including selecting tools, managing partners, running experiments, and identifying what works.
  • Contribute to hiring the growth team as the motion proves successful.

Benefits

  • Base salary: $180-300K
  • Founding-caliber equity
  • In-person work environment in San Francisco
