Founding Engineer
About The Position
We're building AI knowledge workers that help companies grow faster. Nerve is changing this, by adding a supercomputer coworker that helps answer questions, draft emails, and write docs - unlocking teams and employees to focus on their highest leverage tasks. Our team is centered on being lean and talent-dense. As a founding engineer, you'll have an outsized impact on the technology and the company, working in tandem with the founders, and shaping the direction of the company. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the core team, be a significant contributor to the company’s success, and grow into leadership as the company scales. You’re someone that wants to take ownership of large projects end to end, work on hard technical problems, and is comfortable working and leading projects autonomously with some initial guidance. You want ownership of the big stuff but also sweat the little details. This role is ideal for someone who eventually wants to start their own company, or wants to level up their technical and management skills with broad autonomy and focused mentorship. We've got a modern tech stack built on the latest frameworks and technology (AWS, Kubernetes, Python, NextJS). Requirements
- 4-6 years of experience in software engineering
- Ability or desire to develop across the whole stack
- Expertise in Python
- Experience in high throughput asynchronous jobs (Celery / Airflow)
- Expertise in Frontend development React / Tailwind / NextJS
- Prior experience working at fast-growing, scaling companies
- Prior startup experience, ideally as a founding engineer or one of the first hires
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Intellectual curiosity
- Based in SF / Bay Area
- Excited to work in person 4 days a week
