About The Position

Take over and expand existing electrical design automation, which has already automated 50% of electrical engineering. Deliver real power-system engineering for live data center and industrial projects while building a parametric engine that makes electrical design repeatable across future sites. The role combines hands-on electrical engineering with automation and workflow development. A traditional software background is not required; the focus is on understanding electricity, power-system architecture, and engineering trade-offs, and translating that knowledge into code with AI tools. The position is full-time and remote in the US or Canada, excluding Quebec. Compensation is US$200,000–US$275,000 or CA$285,000–CA$390,000 base, plus founding-team equity. Fully compensated health plans with 100% dependent coverage are offered. The company hires across the experience spectrum and values demonstrated building ability over years on a resume.

Requirements

Deep understanding of power systems, including power flow, fault behavior, protection, grounding, equipment behavior, and electrical-system trade-offs.
Experience designing, building, testing, or commissioning real electrical or power systems.
Ability to solve engineering problems from first principles rather than relying exclusively on conventional tools.
Ability to ship code with AI tools today; prior software development experience is not required.
Exceptional ownership and ability to deliver technically sound solutions independently.

Nice To Haves

PE license; helpful but not required.
Experience with power electronics, medium-voltage systems, industrial power distribution, substations, or first-of-a-kind electrical hardware.
Direct data center, construction, or AEC experience; not required.
CS degree or traditional software background; not required.

Responsibilities

Deliver complete electrical engineering packages, including load calculations, single-line diagrams, panel and cable schedules, conduit and equipment sizing, and construction sets.
Own power-system studies, including load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and related analysis using ETAP, SKM, or similar tools.
Engineer medium- and low-voltage distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, and data center power architectures.
Automate electrical calculations, equipment selection, system configuration, drawing generation, and engineering documentation.
Build and refine parametric design engines that generate electrical deliverables from a single project template.
Connect electrical design with mechanical and structural systems so engineering changes propagate automatically across disciplines.
Use AI coding agents, such as Claude Code and similar tools, to develop and ship workflows.
