Founding Designer

Leap
$140,000 - $190,000

About The Position

Leap is a rapidly growing benefits solutions company and a pioneer in employer specialty pharmacy, aiming to revolutionize how life-changing therapies are delivered and financed. They focus on ensuring patients receive necessary treatments while providing employers with fair pricing. Specialty drugs and infusions constitute a significant portion of healthcare spending and are the fastest-growing cost category for employers. Leap addresses this by eliminating hidden markups, expanding access to quality infusion providers, and promoting transparency and fairness in therapy pricing and payment. The company partners with numerous Fortune 500 companies and leading TPAs, delivering immediate ROI through lower costs, improved access, and better patient care. This role is for Leap's Founding Designer, responsible for defining the company's visual identity and communication strategy for patients and families. The position involves a rare design opportunity to assist individuals in accessing complex, high-cost therapies during stressful and confusing times. Great design is crucial for encouraging patient action. The initial focus will be on Member Growth, creating campaigns and communications to introduce Leap, build trust, and guide patients. The broader mandate includes shaping the entire patient-facing experience, from discovery and understanding options to scheduling care, preparing for treatment, staying engaged, and seeking support. The role requires a blend of strategy and execution, involving patient journey mapping, user feedback analysis, and hands-on design for various materials like landing pages, direct mail, and reusable design patterns. While not requiring expertise in copywriting, research, product management, or front-end development, the ideal candidate will be a strong creative partner with excellent user judgment, design taste, clear communication, modern production skills, and the ability to structure ambiguous problems.

  • Print, digital, and modern production fluency, including direct mail, landing pages, email design constraints, asset QA, and vendor collaboration.
  • Fluency in contemporary design tools and understanding of AI's impact on creative workflows.
  • Comfort directing outside creative talent (agencies, contractors) with clear direction and quality control.
  • High agency, low ego, and comfort with complexity, including creating structure from ambiguity, moving fast, explaining decisions, incorporating feedback, and designing in regulated, sensitive environments.

  • Experience building or improving creative workflows, templates, design systems, AI-assisted production processes, or campaign QA systems.

Responsibilities

  • Define Leap’s patient-facing design standard across marketing, onboarding, education, therapy support, and reactivation.
  • Design the end-to-end member journey, identifying and addressing points of confusion, skepticism, overwhelm, or drop-off.
  • Build systems for scalable design, including reusable patterns, components, templates, QA processes, AI-assisted workflows, and production standards.
  • Improve member activation through high-performing direct-response creative across various channels.
  • Translate healthcare complexity into simple, responsible, and understandable experiences.
  • Act as a creative lead and hands-on maker, shaping briefs, guiding visual systems, coordinating with various partners, and producing production-ready assets.
