About The Position

Lynton is building AI-native growth systems for mid-market companies, including websites, an open-source stack, and AI agents for marketing, sales, and operations. This role involves owning the creative and communication strategy for all websites and campaigns, directing the creation of all visual and interactive elements, and leading the creative for new product launches. The agency utilizes AI for website building, image generation, and interactive work, allowing a small team to ship projects quickly. The founding creative director will be responsible for the messaging, visual system, interactive design, 3D/real-time scenes, generated imagery, video production, campaign creative, and new product launches. They will also provide creative oversight, ensure performance and accessibility standards, and direct AI production agents. This role offers the opportunity to build the creative function of a new type of agency with a strong foundation and direct access to leadership.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in digital creative, with at least three leading it.
  • Experience as a creative director, associate CD, or design lead at an interactive studio, an agency, or an in-house brand team.
  • A portfolio of interactive work directed and helped build, showcasing sites that use motion to carry the story.
  • Ability to write copy, turning a positioning brief into a homepage headline and supporting paragraphs.
  • Ability to edit copy to sound like a person.
  • Fluency in CSS and SVG animation, GSAP or equivalent, and scroll-driven sequencing.
  • Experience shipping real-time 3D in the browser with Three.js, React Three Fiber, or similar.
  • Experience building or lighting scenes in Blender, Cinema 4D, or Houdini.
  • Ability to read code, prototype with a coding agent, and identify build errors.
  • Deep, current practice with image and video models, with opinions on which to use for specific tasks.
  • Knowledge of how to keep a character, product, or illustration style consistent across multiple outputs.
  • Understanding of where AI models still fail.
  • Ability to cut a film, design motion graphics, and finish in After Effects, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalents, alongside generative tools.
  • Ability to explain creative choices (e.g., typeface, cut, camera move) in terms understandable to clients or engineers.
  • Understanding of the commercial terms of AI models used.
  • Preference for shipping honest illustrations over misleading photographs.
  • Experience trading heavier scenes for faster pages and explaining the rationale.
  • Familiarity with texture budgets, draw calls, and Core Web Vitals.
  • Experience directing agents across design, code, and copy.
  • Ability to spec a task, judge output, and improve the AI loop.
  • Comfort with a blank page, a small team, and a leadership group that builds alongside you.

Responsibilities

  • Own the creative and communication strategy for every website and campaign Lynton ships, both ours and our clients'.
  • Decide what a page says and how it looks.
  • Design how it moves.
  • Make or direct every image, illustration, animation, and film on it.
  • Write copy and edit everything that ships, so the words and pictures come from one point of view.
  • Design interactive experiences, including SVG and CSS animation, scroll-driven storytelling, micro-interactions, and real-time 3D.
  • Storyboard and prototype interactive elements, and direct the build.
  • Model, light, and art-direct 3D scenes in Blender, then bring them to the browser with Three.js and WebGL.
  • Build and run the image pipeline, art-directing photography and illustration with image models, maintaining style consistency, and retouching model outputs.
  • Animate stills with video models.
  • Set house rules on style, consistency, and licensing for generated assets.
  • Produce product films, launch and explainer videos, social cuts, and motion graphics using generative video, compositing, and traditional motion tools.
  • Own launches and email campaigns end to end: concept, copy, landing pages, imagery, and video.
  • Lead the creative for every launch Lynton incubates: the name and identity, the positioning and story, and the site and campaign it goes to market with.
  • Review and sign off on all creative the agency ships.
  • Ensure every page meets a mobile Lighthouse score of 90 or above and WCAG AA contrast.
  • Ensure motion respects reduced-motion settings.
  • Ensure 3D loads after the headline to avoid delaying the first content a visitor sees.
  • Ensure copy is readable by both people and AI assistants.
  • Direct AI agent fleet through production work: coding agents for prototypes and builds, image and video models for assets, and language models for first drafts and variants.
  • Manage each engagement's inference and render budget.
  • Build reusable pipelines to improve project starting points.
