About The Position

The Founders Room Host reports to the Senior Manager, Donor Concierge and Communications and is responsible for all aspects of the presentation, security and hospitality related to the Dee and Don Snyder Founders Room. The Host will leverage their outstanding customer service and communication skills to exhibit full dedication to ensuring that every donor’s experience within the Founders Room is an exceptional one. They are responsible for greeting donors and VIP guests and assisting them inside the Founders Room. The Host is also responsible for ensuring that guests arrive to their appropriate seating level prior to curtain.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in theater ushering, customer service or host/hostess or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated interested in the arts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to be warm and friendly with guests in a professional manner.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English is required; other languages such as Spanish would be beneficial but not required.
  • Must maintain superior attention to detail.
  • Highly organized and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and courteously.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, including ability to maintain composure at all times.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Availability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as determined by event, programming and operational needs.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive, confidential, and donor-related information.
  • Desire and ability to accept all levels of challenges.
  • Desire to work as a team player and assist when and where needed.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and conduct that is appropriate for interactions with donors, patrons, community stakeholders, and TSC leadership.
  • Maintain a dependable, professional, and courteous front of house environment.
  • Ability to access the internet and proficiency in utilizing web-based platforms, communication tools, and software applications to support departmental operations, scheduling, and collaboration.
  • Ability to lift, move, carry, push, and pull 30 pounds or more.
  • This position will require standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs to assist guests.
  • Ability to occasionally reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
  • Ability to bend at the waist and lift items overhead.
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus to effectively use mobile devices, and electronic devices such as tablets, iPads, and computer screens.
  • Ability to withstand regular exposure to loud or high noise levels, including amplified music, sound checks, and audience applause.
  • This position could be exposed to loud noises and requires average to above average visual acuity and hearing.
  • Ability to work in and around crowded environments and interact with large groups of guests and patrons in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Most of this job will be performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the use of mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets (e.g., iPads), and the ability to assist with technology-related needs associated with donor events, registrations, and organizational activities preferred.
  • Spanish language skills would be beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Providing exemplary customer service when welcoming donors and VIP guests to the Founders Room.
  • Advise all guests of important performance information as detailed in the Event Brief.
  • Responsible for greeting, checking-in and recording attendance of all guests to the Founders Room.
  • Operating the self-playing electronic piano outside the Founders Room.
  • Restocking of self-service fridge with refreshments and reporting of current inventory.
  • Ensuring Founders Room is prepared and presentable prior to guest arrival.
  • Provide directional assistance to guests.
  • Provide information to the Manager, Guest Experience for the preparation of the Event Summary Report, including lost and found, safety and service incidents, and guest feedback.
  • Report any safety and/or service incidents in and around the Founders Room to the Manager, Guest Experience and Senior Manager, Donor Concierge and Communications.
  • Report lost and found to Security and assist guests with recovery of lost items.
  • Maintain a professional appearance within the required business elegant attire (uniforms will not be provided).
  • Participation in all training and team building events as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
