About The Position

Spectrum Child & Family Services is seeking a visionary Foster Care Supervisor to provide leadership, direction, and expert management for our Foster Care Unit in Southfield. As a Supervisor, you aren't just managing cases; you are mentoring a team of dedicated professionals to ensure every child and family receives the highest standard of care. The Foster Care Supervisor is the primary architect of safety and stability for the families in our care. Reporting directly to the Division Director, you will oversee a team of Foster Care Workers, ensuring that all services align with contract requirements, state laws, and our agency’s core values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related human services field.
  • At least four years of direct related experience, including two years specifically in Foster Care or child welfare.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience in child welfare and the ability to manage staff conflict and uphold professional accountability.
  • Deep understanding of child welfare laws, strength-based family work, and solution-focused treatment.
  • Valid, unrestricted Michigan Driver’s License, a good driving record, and the flexibility to support your team whenever a crisis arises.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, and orient new staff, providing regular scheduled supervision to guide their professional growth and service delivery.
  • Monitor the safety and well-being of all assigned clients through direct supervision and thorough review of documentation.
  • Attend and facilitate critical meetings with courts, schools, and hospitals to expedite and coordinate essential services for families.
  • Lead a 24/7 crisis response system, providing a safety net for birth and foster families when they need it most.
  • Serve as a professional representative of Spectrum’s programs within the community through public speaking and interagency committees.
