About The Position

Earthjustice is seeking law students for a summer law clerk position within its Fossil Fuels program. The program focuses on addressing the expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure through litigation and advocacy, particularly in the U.S. Gulf Region and Appalachia. The clerkship offers hands-on experience in case development, litigation strategy, legal research, drafting pleadings and briefs, evidence gathering, and attending client meetings and court proceedings. The program also includes seminars on environmental issues, interactions with other environmental groups, and a job interview workshop.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a U.S. law school through fall 2027 (not graduating before December 2027).
  • Must be available to commit ten weeks during summer 2027.
  • Must work from the U.S. during the clerkship.
  • Submit a resume.
  • Submit a cover letter addressing relevant background, interest in Earthjustice's mission and litigation teams, and inspiring environmental or public interest issues.
  • Submit a legal writing sample of no more than 10 pages.
  • Submit an unofficial transcript.

Responsibilities
