About The Position

We are seeking a Forward Deployment Engineer with a strong background in software engineering and a passion for AI. This role involves working with clients to deploy and maintain LLM-powered systems in production. You will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to high-stakes projects from conception to completion. The ideal candidate is adaptable, an excellent communicator, and comfortable working in a consulting environment.

Requirements

8+ years of software engineering experience.
2+ years building LLM-powered systems (RAG, agents, structured extraction) in production.
Demonstrated technical leadership, including mentoring engineers.
Expert-level Python skills.
Strong full-stack fundamentals.
Production cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Deep working knowledge of the modern AI stack (prompt/context engineering, evaluation, embeddings, vector search, agent orchestration frameworks).
Track record of owning ambiguous, high-stakes projects end to end.
Fluent English and clear communication skills.
Adaptability to consulting environments.
Based in San Diego, CA with reliable overlap with Colombia business hours.
AI-first working style, using AI tools daily.

Responsibilities

Deploy, monitor, and maintain LLM-powered systems in production environments.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers.
Own ambiguous, high-stakes projects end to end, including problem framing, architecture, development, and iteration.
Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and deliver effective AI solutions.
Adapt to various client contexts, industries, and codebases.
Utilize AI tools daily to enhance productivity and guide the team.
Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
