About The Position

Alloy is establishing a new function: Forward Deployed Engineering. This role is designed to serve as a trusted technical partner for Alloy's largest enterprise customers, providing expertise on how Alloy integrates into their technology stack and fraud strategies. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will be embedded with strategic accounts, taking end-to-end ownership of technical outcomes. This is a software engineering role within the Engineering organization, with responsibilities spanning software, product, and solutions engineering. You will be instrumental in defining the operational framework of this new function. Alloy operates a hybrid-work model, with local employees expected onsite three days a week to foster collaboration and community.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing production-ready software with a proven track record of delivering robust, scalable solutions.
  • Experience in a customer-facing technical role, such as Forward Deployed Engineering, solutions engineering with deep technical ownership, or a similar role where accountability was to an external stakeholder.
  • Strong backend and API proficiency, with the ability to read and write production code across services outside of direct ownership.
  • Sound architectural judgment under ambiguity, with the ability to make and defend technical decisions in customer-facing situations.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for customer-facing work and problem-solving alongside customer engineers.
  • Clear technical communication skills, capable of explaining complex integration trade-offs to both a bank's VP of Engineering and an Alloy Product Manager.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a company with a strong Forward Deployed Engineering culture (e.g., Palantir, Scale AI, Ramp, Plaid, Stripe).
  • Familiarity with identity, fraud, KYC/KYB, or financial services infrastructure.
  • Experience with SDK development or embedded front-end integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and tune customer and channel-partner deployments end-to-end, including API integrations, third-party data integrations, SDKs, and addressing latency constraints.
  • Write production code across Alloy's technology stack, including TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6/React), Python (Django), Node.js, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, and AWS.
  • Act as Alloy's credible technical representative with customer engineering leadership, making real-time architectural decisions.
  • Own the engineering track for Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) for assigned accounts and serve in their on-call escalation path.
  • Transform work into reusable platform primitives and documentation to accelerate future deployments.
