Forward Deployed Engineer

Plentitude•Fort Collins, CO

About The Position

Plentitude is building the operating system for restoration contractors, starting with estimating and claims intelligence. We are already working with paying restoration companies and building alongside the teams that use our product every day. Restoration contractors have the documentation and expertise to support their work, but the information is often scattered across photos, notes, scans, job-management systems, and estimating software. Turning that information into a complete, defensible estimate still requires substantial manual work. Plentitude connects those pieces, helping teams prepare stronger estimates, identify missing documentation, and draft evidence-backed supplements and responses for their team to review and submit. Our ambition extends beyond estimating. We want to connect the workflows contractors rely on to document, manage, and get paid for their work. We are looking for people who want to help build that foundation, not just maintain a small part of an established product. We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to help turn customer needs into working software. You will work directly with restoration companies to understand their operations, connect their existing systems, and build the integrations and workflows that make Plentitude useful in their day-to-day work. You will also work closely with our founders to turn what you learn into improvements across the platform. This is a hands-on engineering role with substantial customer interaction. You should be equally comfortable leading a workflow discussion, investigating messy data, and writing code to solve the underlying problem. You will own work from discovery through deployment and follow-through, rather than delivering a prototype and handing it off.

Requirements

  • You can ship and maintain software. You have built working applications, integrations, or internal tools and can explain your technical decisions. You are comfortable debugging unfamiliar systems and taking responsibility for what happens after deployment.
  • You can work across systems and data. You are comfortable with APIs, databases, authentication, and inconsistent inputs. You can move between understanding a business process and implementing the technical solution.
  • You communicate well with nontechnical people. You ask thoughtful questions, explain tradeoffs clearly, and help customers feel comfortable adopting something new. You care whether the solution actually works for the people using it.
  • You work independently without sacrificing judgment. You can make progress with incomplete requirements, surface risks early, and distinguish a useful shortcut from a fragile solution. You use AI tools to accelerate your work while remaining accountable for correctness, security, and maintainability.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with restoration, construction, insurance workflows, or estimating software would be helpful, but we would not expect you to arrive as an industry expert. Curiosity about how our customers work, along with a willingness to learn the details, matters.

Responsibilities

  • Technical implementation. Understand each customer’s systems, documentation, and operating processes. Translate those findings into a practical implementation plan and help take the customer from initial setup to reliable daily use.
  • Integrations and automation. Build and maintain connections between Plentitude and the tools customers already use. Develop data-import workflows, API integrations, and automations that reduce duplicate entry and manual handoffs.
  • AI workflow quality. Work with our CTO and customer-facing team to improve how information moves from source documentation into usable outputs. Test against real examples, identify failure patterns, and build checks that help catch problems before they reach customers.
  • Troubleshooting and reliability. Investigate issues across customer data, integrations, and product behavior. Find the root cause, communicate clearly, and implement fixes with appropriate testing, monitoring, and attention to data security.
  • Reusable product improvements. Recognize when a customer-specific problem points to a broader product need. Turn successful solutions into maintainable features, shared tools, and documented implementation patterns rather than a growing collection of one-off fixes.
