About The Position

Flossy is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to shape and build AI products across its platform, which supports appointment-based practices with patient communication, business intelligence, workflow automation, and operational optimization. The engineer will work directly with company leadership and customer operators, turning complex business problems into reliable software. This hands-on role spans customer discovery, product decisions, user experience, engineering, and production operations. The engineer will use AI coding agents throughout development and take responsibility for the quality of the resulting software, from identifying an ambiguous customer problem through delivering a practical solution and ensuring it works in daily use.

Requirements

  • Practical experience using AI coding agents as part of a high-output development workflow.
  • A track record of taking a product or substantial workflow from an unclear problem to successful production use.
  • Strong product judgment and the ability to connect customer needs, user experience, technical decisions, and business outcomes.
  • Hands-on engineering ability across modern web applications, APIs, relational databases, and cloud deployment, including the ability to inspect code and debug across systems.
  • Comfort working with third-party integrations, imperfect documentation, inconsistent data, and complex business rules.
  • Good interaction and visual judgment, with attention to language, workflow clarity, and details that make software easy to use.
  • Practical experience working directly with customers and communicating clearly across multiple channels, such as Slack, meetings, and email.
  • Initiative to move work forward independently and judgment to balance delivery speed with production reliability.
  • Willingness to visit some client locations for troubleshooting and production requirements gathering.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with TypeScript, React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Google Cloud, third-party APIs, or AI services; the posting says these technologies are helpful, while ability to learn unfamiliar systems and deliver reliable software matters more than an exact stack match.
  • Experience with business software, conversational AI, analytics, workflow automation, or healthcare and service-business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with frontline staff, managers, and executives to understand workflows, business goals, and operational constraints.
  • Communicate with customers to understand their needs and frustrations and translate them into actionable solutions.
  • Design straightforward interfaces that make complex information and workflows understandable and easy to act on.
  • Own the product, use it daily, and build quality-of-life solutions without waiting for direct requests.
  • Build across the frontend, backend, database, and integrations, using AI development tools to accelerate delivery while reviewing and verifying their output.
  • Build AI-powered features and automation workflows with explicit business rules, appropriate approvals, and a clear history of actions and outcomes.
  • Investigate incomplete data, unexpected API behavior, and production issues, and carry fixes through testing, release, and verification.
  • Measure whether shipped work improves adoption, customer experience, staff efficiency, and business performance.
  • Own meaningful product areas independently, communicate tradeoffs clearly, and surface decisions that need broader input.
  • Visit some client locations for troubleshooting and production requirements gathering.
