Forward Deployed Engineer

Capgemini•Atlanta, GA
•$130,000 - $180,000

About The Position

Capgemini Financial Services’ Forward Deployed Engineers (internally called Outcome Delivery Engineers) are business-focused technologists in the FS Applied AI team and FS AI Enterprise Hub. They help Financial Services clients translate strategic intent into AI-enabled products, workflows, and operating capabilities, remaining accountable from opportunity discovery through delivery, adoption, and value realization. Embedded alongside client business and technology teams, they independently own customer use cases from discovery through production deployment and handoff, coordinating broader delivery teams and partnering with stakeholders, product teams, and engineers to define problems, design solutions, build production-quality software, and drive measurable adoption. The role combines technical execution with business and domain understanding. Engineers shape, architect, build, and industrialize solutions that deliver measurable outcomes, applying expertise in areas such as AI and agentic systems, software engineering, data and platform engineering, business architecture, operating-model transformation, workflow redesign, and digital product delivery. The team supports clients across banking and capital markets, insurance, digital customer experience, and technology transformation. FDEs lead discovery and problem framing, define success measures and value hypotheses, own solution architecture and critical-path implementation, and validate solutions against engineering and business requirements. They bring AI and generative AI into usable products and workflows with appropriate human oversight, design for production readiness and regulatory obligations, and establish acceptance criteria. They also turn prototypes into reusable assets, ensure clean handoffs, drive adoption and change, track benefits after go-live, make solutions supportable, and contribute to pursuits and pre-sales.

Requirements

  • Professional experience in software engineering, solution architecture, technical consulting, business consulting, product management, or a comparable customer-facing role.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead customer workstreams from discovery through deployment and adoption.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous requirements independently and convert them into measurable outcomes and executable delivery plans.
  • Strong customer-facing communication, facilitation, stakeholder-management, and workshop-leadership skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and business trade-offs to engineering and business audiences.
  • Working knowledge of security, privacy, compliance, governance, and software lifecycle practices.
  • Working knowledge of Financial Services in at least one area of banking or insurance, including products, business processes, customer journeys, data domains, controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to map business processes, data, controls, and regulatory obligations to solution designs and measurable outcomes.
  • Hands-on experience applying AI, generative AI, workflow automation, analytics, or agentic AI approaches to business problems.
  • Familiarity with AI concepts including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), tool or function calling, agent orchestration frameworks, evaluation methods, guardrails, and responsible AI principles.
  • Experience leading a multidisciplinary team, workstream, or delivery pod.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience delivering AI, generative AI, machine-learning, analytics, or workflow-automation solutions in production environments.
  • Experience with cloud-native architectures, enterprise integration patterns, containers, infrastructure as code, or DevOps practices.
  • Experience designing and integrating APIs, enterprise systems, data platforms, cloud services, or business-process transformation initiatives.
  • Experience with business architecture, operating-model design, capability mapping, value-stream design, or process transformation.
  • Domain experience in banking, insurance, customer service, operations, or contact-centre environments.
  • Familiarity with regulated environments, responsible AI, model-risk management, data governance, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience supporting pre-sales, solution shaping, business case development, or customer pursuits.

Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery and problem framing with client stakeholders, identifying the underlying problem and defining success measures, value hypotheses, and target outcomes.
  • Shape solution direction, including capability changes, workflow redesign, platform choices, architecture, and the role of AI in the operating model.
  • Own solution architecture and hands-on work on the critical path, setting engineering, business, and delivery standards for the workstream.
  • Deliver prototypes, proofs of value, and production-ready increments to demonstrate value early and de-risk decisions.
  • Steer AI tooling and teams toward production-quality output and verify it before release.
  • Validate solutions for reliability, security, performance, compliance, regulatory requirements, operational feasibility, and business outcomes.
  • Design and implement AI-powered workflows as usable products with appropriate human oversight.
  • Own specifications and acceptance criteria, and confirm that delivered solutions meet them.
  • Design production readiness into solutions, including reliability, security, compliance, observability, supportability, and operational sustainability.
  • Balance technical quality, business value, user adoption, and regulatory obligations in solution design.
  • Turn prototypes into reusable assets, playbooks, patterns, and accelerators, and hand them off to delivery or managed services.
  • Share client learning across the wider Forward Deployed Engineering capability.
  • Ensure solutions are documented, supportable, measurable, and ready to scale.
  • Own outcomes through adoption, lead client demonstrations and pilots, and drive usage with real users.
  • Coordinate subject-matter experts and support transitions into delivery and managed services.
  • Advise client managers and directors as a trusted partner across business and technology domains.
  • Design and enable required operating-model changes, including process redesign, capability mapping, workflow transformation, organizational impact, and technology adoption.
  • Design adoption and change approaches, including stakeholder engagement, training, communications, readiness, and benefit tracking.
  • Own value hypotheses and track benefit realization after go-live.
  • Make solutions supportable by future owners through documentation, observability, runbooks, governance, and operational processes.
  • Contribute to pursuits and pre-sales through solution shaping, proofs of value, and business and technical storytelling.
  • Support opportunity qualification, client workshops, value articulation, and solution demonstrations.

Benefits
