Forward Deployed Engineer

Dingoblu Financial Inc•Charlotte, NC
•Onsite

About The Position

The Forward Deployed Engineer will build the banking platform and take it into the field, combining product engineering with client-facing solutions work. The role is approximately two-thirds building and one-third embedded with partners, vendors, and internal teams. The engineer will own the path from code to customer, diagnose integration problems directly, and influence technical direction while working closely with the Senior Product Manager who owns the banking portfolio. The position spans customer-facing mobile banking for iOS and Android using Flutter, customer-facing and internal web applications using React, AWS infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions. It also requires daily use of Claude Code and building reliable AI-powered product features with the Claude API, including evaluations, observability, and guardrails developed with Risk and Compliance. The engineer will deploy and troubleshoot with partners and business teams; own integrations with core banking platforms, payment rails, and fintech APIs; and incorporate field learnings into the product roadmap. Security, risk, and compliance are integral to the work, including secure development practices, audit evidence, and collaboration on architecture, vendor assessments, and audit responses. The role is on-site at the Charlotte headquarters, with periodic travel to partner and client sites and occasional evening or weekend work around releases, conversions, or incidents. A real on-call rotation is maintained.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years building and shipping production software, with meaningful ownership after launch.
  • Financial services experience and understanding of banking regulatory constraints, audit expectations, and risks of production changes involving money.
  • Production React experience, including modern hooks-based code, state management, and performance work.
  • Production Flutter experience shipping to both app stores, or strong native mobile experience and a credible ability to learn Flutter quickly.
  • Hands-on AWS experience architecting, deploying, and operating services.
  • Ownership of CI/CD using GitHub Actions or an equivalent such as GitLab CI, CircleCI, or Jenkins; experience building pipelines rather than only using them.
  • Deep hands-on Claude experience, including regular use of Claude Code and a real Claude API implementation with error handling, cost awareness, audit or observability capabilities, and considered trust boundaries.
  • Sound judgment about where AI is useful and where conventional code is more appropriate.
  • Ability to work directly with partner engineering teams and business stakeholders, understand ambiguous problems, and establish clear scope.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, communication, and documentation, including documenting decisions, systems, and operational context.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and limited process, including independently deciding how work gets done.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; the posting states that a degree is not rigidly required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience integrating core banking platforms such as Fiserv, Jack Henry, FIS, Q2, Alkami, or nCino, or payment rails such as ACH, Zelle, RTP, FedNow, or card networks.
  • Fintech API experience with Plaid, Marqeta, Stripe, Alloy, or similar.
  • Backend experience in Node, Python, Go, Java, or Kotlin.
  • Infrastructure as code experience with Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation, and containerization experience.
  • Familiarity with engineering-related regulatory frameworks such as SOC 2, PCI DSS, GLBA, or FFIEC guidance.
  • Experience with agentic patterns beyond chat, including tool use, MCP servers, multi-step workflows, or the Claude Agent SDK.
  • Experience running Claude models through Amazon Bedrock.
  • Experience writing evaluations or using other rigorous methods to measure AI feature performance.
  • Prior consulting, solutions engineering, or forward-deployed experience at a software vendor.
  • AWS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship the customer-facing Flutter mobile banking application for iOS and Android.
  • Own mobile releases, including store submissions, staged rollouts, versioning, and deprecation of older clients.
  • Implement mobile banking capabilities such as biometric authentication, secure local storage, session handling, offline states, and notification deep links.
  • Maintain mobile performance and app size for low-end devices.
  • Build customer-facing web banking experiences and internal operations tools in React.
  • Share logic and design language across web and mobile, and meet WCAG accessibility standards.
  • Design, deploy, and operate AWS services and maintain reproducible, auditable infrastructure as code.
  • Build for the availability and recovery requirements of a regulated financial institution, provide evidence for examinations, and manage cloud costs.
  • Own CI/CD pipelines for web, mobile, and backend services; incorporate automated testing, security scanning, dependency checks, and deployment gates.
  • Maintain regulated-environment change controls and audit trails, including approvals, artifacts, and release evidence.
  • Use Claude Code in the development workflow and build production AI features with the Claude API.
  • Define AI evaluations, usage standards, human review requirements, and guardrails for customer data and model outputs with Risk and Compliance.
  • Embed with partners, vendors, and internal business teams to deploy, integrate, and troubleshoot systems in their environments.
  • Own integrations with core banking platforms, payment rails, and fintech APIs from design through production support.
  • Translate partner needs into implementation plans and bring field learnings into the product roadmap.
  • Apply security by design, including encryption in transit and at rest, least privilege, secrets management, and secure SDLC practices.
  • Partner with Risk and Compliance on architecture decisions, vendor assessments, and audit responses.
  • Build systems that produce audit evidence required by examiners.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and occasional evening or weekend work around releases, core conversions, or incidents.

Benefits

  • Budget for conferences, certifications, and continued learning.
