About The Position

Mural is building the Global Financial Internet, connecting every person and business. This role is a hands-on position within this mission. Mural provides regulated financial infrastructure across the US and Latin America, enabling companies to build cross-border financial products using their API. They handle licenses, compliance, and failure states, allowing clients to go live in weeks. Mural's system integrates fiat and blockchain, processing over $2 billion across various currencies and rails, including USDC and USDT on major blockchains, ACH, wire transfers, and local rails in Latin America and Europe. Their clients include Deel, Bolt, Opera, and more. Mural recently closed its Series A and is an AI-native company, utilizing agentic tools for building, operating, and scaling. The Forward Deployed Engineering team ensures customer success by embedding with strategic enterprise customers. The role involves understanding customer businesses, constraints, and pain points to build necessary launch components. For example, a global payouts customer expanding into a new market might require building virtual account infrastructure within Mural's core codebase. Work done in this role is not a one-off service or technical support; it's product engineering where the roadmap is driven by live customer needs. Everything built lands in the core platform, and successful implementations can become first-class platform features. Engagements are scoped at contract time, with the engineer determining the 'what, why, and how' in collaboration with the customer and a deployment strategist.

Responsibilities

Deploy into customer contexts and iterate daily with their engineering and operations teams.
Scope the build directly with the customer, working out what to build and why.
Build across the full stack, including TypeScript, React, NestJS with Postgres and Prisma, and AWS services (SQS, SNS, Lambda).
Develop new account infrastructure, blockchain integrations, API endpoints, and compliance workflows.
Identify patterns across customer implementations and work with product to turn engagement output into platform features.
Prototype rapidly, ship carefully, and accept some throwaway work while ensuring non-throwaway work is productized.
Debug production issues in real time, sometimes with the customer present.
Design for correctness and auditability, considering failure modes in money-movement infrastructure.
Communicate crisply with customer engineers, operators, founders, finance leaders, and internal product leads.
