Forward Deployed Engineer

Capgemini•Atlanta, NY

About The Position

Capgemini Financial Services’ Forward Deployed Engineers, internally referred to as Outcome Delivery Engineers, are business-focused technologists in the FS Applied AI team and FS AI Enterprise Hub. They help Financial Services clients translate strategic intent into AI-enabled products, workflows, and operating capabilities, remaining accountable from opportunity discovery through delivery, adoption, and value realization. Embedded alongside client business and technology teams, they independently own customer use cases from discovery through production deployment and handoff, coordinating broader delivery teams and partnering with stakeholders, product teams, and engineers to define problems, design solutions, build production-quality software, and drive measurable adoption. The role bridges client strategy and execution across opportunity shaping, delivery, and industrialization. Engineers combine technical execution with business and domain understanding to shape, build, and scale solutions that deliver measurable client outcomes. Work may draw on expertise in AI and agentic systems, software engineering, data and platform engineering, business architecture, operating-model transformation, workflow redesign, or digital product delivery. The FS AI Enterprise Hub supports clients in areas including Banking and Capital Markets, Insurance business transformation, Digital Customer Experience, and technology transformation. The position leads discovery and problem framing, defines success measures and value hypotheses, shapes solution direction, and owns architecture and hands-on delivery of critical-path work. It delivers prototypes and production-ready increments, steers and verifies AI tooling and team output, and designs AI-powered workflows with appropriate human oversight. Solutions must account for reliability, security, compliance, regulatory requirements, operational feasibility, business outcomes, production readiness, adoption, and supportability. The role also industrializes successful solutions into reusable assets and playbooks, leads client demonstrations and adoption, coordinates subject-matter experts and transitions, tracks realized benefits, and contributes to pursuits and pre-sales. The posted base compensation range is $130,000–$180,000. The role may also be eligible for variable incentives, bonuses, or commissions. Capgemini offers a benefits package to regular full-time employees, with benefits varying by local policy and eligibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience delivering AI, generative AI, machine-learning, analytics, or workflow-automation solutions in production environments.
  • Experience with cloud-native architectures, enterprise integration patterns, containers, infrastructure as code, or DevOps practices.
  • Experience designing and integrating APIs, enterprise systems, data platforms, cloud services, or business-process transformation initiatives.
  • Experience with business architecture, operating-model design, capability mapping, value-stream design, or process transformation.

  • Familiarity with regulated environments, responsible AI, model-risk management, data governance, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience supporting pre-sales, solution shaping, business case development, or customer pursuits.

Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery and problem framing with client stakeholders, distinguishing the underlying problem from the stated request.
  • Define success measures, value hypotheses, and target outcomes before solution development begins.
  • Shape solution direction, including capability changes, workflow redesign, platform choices, architecture, and the role of AI in the operating model.
  • Own solution architecture and hands-on implementation of the critical path, setting engineering, business, and delivery standards for the workstream.
  • Deliver rapid prototypes, proofs of value, and production-ready increments to demonstrate value early and reduce risk.
  • Steer AI tooling and delivery teams toward production-quality output and verify that output before release.
  • Assess generated output for engineering and business risks, including reliability, security, performance, compliance, regulatory requirements, operational feasibility, and business outcomes.
  • Design and implement AI-powered workflows as usable products, with appropriate human oversight.
  • Own specifications and acceptance criteria for the delivery pod and its tooling, and confirm shipped work meets the specification.
  • Design for production readiness, including reliability, security, compliance, observability, supportability, and operational sustainability.
  • Balance technical quality, business value, user adoption, and regulatory obligations in solution design.
  • Turn prototypes into repeatable and reusable assets, playbooks, patterns, and accelerators, and hand them off to delivery or managed services.
  • Share client learning across the wider Forward Deployed Engineering capability.
  • Ensure solutions are documented, supportable, measurable, and ready to scale beyond the initial deployment.
  • Own outcomes through adoption, lead client demonstrations and pilots, and drive usage with real users.
  • Coordinate subject-matter experts and secure the appropriate expertise at the right time; support transitions into delivery and managed services.
  • Advise client managers and directors as a trusted partner across business and technology domains.
  • Design and enable required operating-model changes, including process redesign, capability mapping, workflow transformation, organizational impact, and technology adoption.
  • Design adoption and change approaches covering stakeholder engagement, training, communications, readiness, and benefit tracking.
  • Own the value hypothesis and track benefit realization after go-live.
  • Make solutions supportable by successor teams through documentation, observability, runbooks, governance, and operational processes.
  • Contribute to pursuits and pre-sales through solution shaping, proofs of value, and business and technical storytelling.
  • Support opportunity qualification, client workshops, value articulation, and solution demonstrations.
