Forward Deployed Engineer
About The Position
Peri is recruiting Forward Deployed Engineers for several AI startups in New York, ranging from Seed to Series D+ and backed by investors including a16z, Founders Fund, Thrive Capital, and Y Combinator. Candidates have one conversation with Peri, which may identify opportunities that fit them, rather than applying separately to each company. The role combines engineering, investigation, and operations. Engineers learn how businesses operate, identify worthwhile problems, and build solutions with backend engineering teams. They develop software for organizations in complex industries such as manufacturing, construction, and logistics, where the software becomes part of how people work. The work involves understanding customers and business needs as well as writing code, and offers opportunities to work directly with founders and senior people at large public and private companies, own the process from discovery through implementation and use, and help shape the product and company at an early stage. Prior experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer is not required. Peri describes the desired qualities as the ability to understand messy problems quickly, communicate clearly, make sound decisions, and build. Peri will share information about the companies and their founders’ needs, and may introduce candidates to founders after an initial conversation.
