About The Position

Mason is hiring a Forward Deployed AI Strategist to work directly with enterprise customers to identify where AI can make a meaningful difference, define what should be built, and help bring solutions into everyday use. The role involves working with executives and operational teams to map workflows and data, identify exceptions, and turn findings into a concrete deployment plan. The strategist remains involved through implementation, evaluation, and rollout, keeping stakeholders aligned and the team focused on outcomes.

This role combines customer leadership, operational analysis, product judgment, and hands-on technical work. It includes building prototypes, exploring APIs and data, and evaluating solutions in partnership with engineers responsible for production systems and infrastructure. The position is full-time and based in New York City or San Francisco, with customer travel and onsite work, particularly during discovery and early deployment.

Requirements

• At least four years of relevant experience in enterprise delivery, technical consulting, product, operations, or building a company.
• Evidence of independently driving a complex initiative involving multiple stakeholders and achieving a concrete outcome.
• Strong communication and judgment with executives, operators, and technical teams.
• Ability to turn a messy process into clear requirements, priorities, and decisions.
• Practical technical ability to work with APIs and structured data, build a useful prototype, and investigate how an AI system succeeds or fails.
• Track record of learning unfamiliar tools and domains quickly, taking ownership, and following through.
• Willingness to travel and work from customer offices.
• Comfort working directly with data and tools, explaining findings, and collaborating with engineers on production implementation.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with SQL, Python or TypeScript, APIs, enterprise data platforms, AI model APIs, agent tools, or evaluation workflows.
• Experience with comparable tools.
• Strength in enterprise relationships, workflow and product judgment, technical experimentation, or implementation and adoption.
• Experience as a deployment strategist, technical consultant, product manager, solutions engineer, operator, or founder.
• Formal software engineering experience is optional.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery with executives, operators, and IT teams to understand how the business works.
• Map workflows, systems, data, exceptions, and decision makers.
• Identify valuable AI applications and define scope, requirements, priorities, and measures of success.
• Build prototypes, test ideas against real examples, and evaluate quality and failure cases.
• Work with engineers to translate findings into an implementation plan and resolve questions as the system takes shape.
• Own customer communication, stakeholder alignment, rollout coordination, training, and adoption.
• Track whether deployments improve customers’ work and use findings to guide the next iteration.
