About The Position

Provectus is a Premier AWS partner and an Anthropic Strategic Partner focused on applied AI, helping enterprises leverage AI technologies like Claude and agentic systems to achieve measurable business outcomes. The company operates across North America, LATAM, and EMEA, partnering with clients globally in the Financial Services & Insurance and Healthcare & Life Sciences sectors. Provectus utilizes five pre-built AI Blueprints to rebuild critical business processes. The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) role involves embedding within client operations to understand and improve processes before automating them. This unique approach removes the traditional requirements-gathering step, allowing engineers to experience the operator's role firsthand. FDEs work closely with operators and Forward Deployed Executives to rebuild functions from first principles, focusing on tangible business outcomes rather than just project delivery. The role is for experienced engineers who want to remain hands-on while owning the impact of their work, often being the most senior technical person in the room.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software building experience, with a significant portion in writing production code.
• Hands-on coding ability and intention to remain so.
• Demonstrated ability to learn domains quickly.
• Experience shipping GenAI/LLM systems to production.
• Experience building or owning an eval suite for a non-deterministic system.
• Strong engineering fundamentals, with the ability to become productive in unfamiliar codebases or languages.
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
• Cloud-native delivery experience on AWS (GCP/Azure is a plus), including containers, Kubernetes/ECS, IaC, CI/CD.
• Ability to be credible with senior stakeholders.
• Comfort with ambiguity and ownership.
• Solid AI/ML foundations, understanding model capabilities and failure modes.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience as a founder, CTO, or engineering leader who has returned to individual contribution.
• Deep expertise in financial services, insurance, healthcare, or asset management.
• Experience in consulting, professional services, or other embedded customer-facing delivery roles.
• Data platform expertise: data lakes, warehouses, streaming and real-time analytics, data mesh, data contracts, governance, and data quality.
• Experience with MLOps and classical ML tools like PyTorch, SageMaker, MLflow.
• Experience with fine-tuning, distillation, or inference/serving optimization.
• Experience with graph databases (Neo4j, AWS Neptune).
• Deep IaC experience with AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
• Open-source contributions or public writing on applied AI.

Responsibilities

• Take the operator's seat for several weeks, performing the actual job (e.g., claims processing, underwriting, revenue-cycle work) before writing any code.
• Learn business domains quickly and become conversant in unfamiliar business functions.
• Ship Generative AI/LLM systems to production, handling the complexities beyond the prototype stage.
• Build and own evaluation suites for non-deterministic systems.
• Deliver cloud-native solutions on AWS, including containers, Kubernetes/ECS, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and CI/CD.
• Engage in redesign conversations with business unit heads and scoping conversations with CTOs.
• Handle ambiguity and take ownership of engagements that are intentionally underspecified.
• Understand AI/ML models well enough to reason about their failure modes.
• Collaborate within small, senior teams alongside Principal Architects and other Forward Deployed Engineers.
• Contribute to building tooling and frameworks for AI delivery practices.
• Work on projects involving Cowork Activation, Agentic SDLC, and Blueprint Activations.
