About The Position

Provectus is a Premier AWS partner and an Anthropic Strategic Partner focused on applied AI, helping enterprises leverage AI technologies like Claude and agentic systems to achieve measurable business outcomes. We operate globally with offices in North America, LATAM, and EMEA, and are dedicated to transforming how businesses operate and compete. Our core focus is on Financial Services & Insurance and Healthcare & Life Sciences, where we implement five pre-defined AI Blueprints: Submission Flow, Portfolio Lens, Asset Flow, Revenue Flow, and Evidence Lens. These Blueprints are designed to rebuild critical business processes from the ground up, starting from working code and tailored to specific client needs, regulatory environments, and operational requirements. We embed engineers and leaders as Forward Deployed Engineers (FDE) and Forward Deployed Executives (FDX) within client organizations. These individuals immerse themselves in the client's operations to understand the work, deploy systems, and take ownership of the outcomes. Our team possesses extensive AWS certifications and is certified in Claude Code. We also co-deliver Anthropic's Agentic SDLC program, Cowork Activation, and AI Blueprints. The core philosophy of this role is to deeply understand and perform the customer's job before attempting to automate it. We address the common failure point in AI engagements where requirements are gathered, a PRD is written, and a workflow is shipped that goes unused. By removing the traditional requirements-gathering step, our Forward Deployed AI Engineers spend the initial weeks of an engagement directly in the operator's role—whether that's an underwriter, analyst, RCM specialist, or claims clinician—to truly understand the work being transformed. You will perform the job, learn the unwritten constraints from within, and then collaborate with the operator and a Forward Deployed Executive to rebuild the function from first principles, taking the lead in its technical development. Our working methodology is defined by three key principles: Embedded, not engaged: You become an integral part of the customer's team, working within their processes rather than as an external vendor managing a separate project. Real tasks, not scope: You are not confined to a narrow deliverable; you address operating problems wherever they arise. Autonomous: Being embedded means you are not simply augmented staff; you own the methodology and drive the work without being handed specific tickets. You will not start from scratch. Provectus utilizes industry blueprints—pre-existing, working systems that have already been deployed for clients in your industry. Your engagement begins with this established baseline, and your field learnings are fed back into these blueprints, creating a continuous improvement loop that drives tangible outcomes rather than just generating invoices. Your success will be measured by the impact on the Business Unit's key metrics, not by hours worked or scope delivered. This role is ideal for engineers with prior leadership experience (e.g., founder, CTO, staff engineer) who wish to remain hands-on with code while retaining ownership of the outcomes. On most days, you will be the most senior technical person present, yet you will still be responsible for shipping the product.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software development experience, with a significant portion dedicated to writing production code for which you were accountable.
  • Currently hands-on with coding and intend to remain so.
  • Genuine willingness to spend weeks performing someone else’s job (e.g., claims processing, underwriting, revenue-cycle work) before writing code.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn domains quickly.
  • Proven experience shipping GenAI/LLM systems to production (not just demos or notebooks), including post-prototype complexities.
  • Experience building or owning an evaluation suite for non-deterministic systems.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals, with the ability to become productive quickly in unfamiliar codebases or languages.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript; depth is more important than breadth.
  • Cloud-native delivery experience on AWS (GCP/Azure are a plus), including containers, Kubernetes/ECS, IaC, and CI/CD.
  • Ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ownership.
  • Solid AI/ML foundations, understanding model capabilities and failure modes.
  • Strong hands-on production experience with Claude Code/Cowork.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a founder, CTO, or engineering leader who has chosen to return to individual contribution.
  • Deep expertise in one of our blueprint industries: financial services, insurance, healthcare, asset management.
  • Experience in consulting, professional services, or other embedded customer-facing delivery roles.
  • Data platform expertise: data lakes, warehouses, streaming and real-time analytics, data mesh, data contracts, governance, and data quality.
  • Experience with MLOps and classical ML tools like PyTorch, SageMaker, MLflow.
  • Experience with fine-tuning, distillation, or inference/serving optimization.
  • Experience with graph databases (Neo4j, AWS Neptune).
  • IaC depth: AWS CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or public writing on applied AI.

Responsibilities

  • Spend the first weeks of an engagement in the operator’s seat, performing the job (e.g., claims processing, underwriting, revenue-cycle work) before writing any code.
  • Learn business domains quickly and become conversant in unfamiliar business functions sufficiently to engage with subject matter experts.
  • Ship Generative AI/LLM systems to production, handling the complexities beyond the initial prototype.
  • Build or own an evaluation suite for non-deterministic systems and articulate the metrics and rationale.
  • Demonstrate strong engineering fundamentals, enabling productivity in unfamiliar codebases or languages.
  • Deliver cloud-native solutions on AWS (GCP/Azure are a plus), including containers, Kubernetes/ECS, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and CI/CD, considering the operational reality for future maintainers.
  • Engage credibly with senior stakeholders, facilitating redesign discussions with Business Unit heads and scoping conversations with CTOs.
  • Comfortably navigate ambiguity and take ownership, as engagements are intentionally underspecified.
  • Apply solid AI/ML foundations to understand model capabilities and failure modes beyond basic API usage.
  • Gain strong hands-on production experience with Claude Code/Cowork.
  • Collaborate within small, senior teams alongside Principal Architects and other Forward Deployed Engineers.
  • Contribute to the growth of the AI delivery practice by helping to build tooling and frameworks.

Benefits

  • Frontier delivery work across Cowork Activation, Agentic SDLC, and Blueprint Activations in Financial Services and Healthcare
  • The chance to shape how leading enterprises adopt AI, from strategy through first deployment
  • A forward-deployed model working in small, senior teams alongside Principal Architects and Forward Deployed Engineers
  • A growing AI delivery practice where you help build the tooling and frameworks, not just use them
  • Remote-friendly culture
