About The Position

Turing is hiring a Forward-Deployed AI Engineer (In Training) for its Enterprise AI business unit. The role involves identifying valuable customer problems, shaping technical architecture, and building production AI systems that deliver measurable business impact for large institutions. Engineers work directly with customers and senior client leaders, lead solutions from discovery through deployment, and own outcomes while remaining hands-on across evaluation, observability, security, reliability, latency, scalability, and cost. The first placement is an eight-week intensive development experience in Turing Akademia. It is designed to build applied AI, production engineering, and client-delivery skills through hands-on technical training, production-oriented projects, and direct feedback. Candidates who successfully complete the placement will be placed on live Turing Enterprise AI client projects as full-time Forward-Deployed AI Engineers with Turing. The work includes building AI systems such as multi-agent workflows, orchestration, tool use, context engineering, memory and state, and retrieval-augmented generation, alongside the APIs, data pipelines, integrations, and distributed systems needed to operate reliably at scale. The work is high-ownership, fast-paced, and client-first. In-person collaboration may be required at client sites or Turing’s planned Manhattan office near Madison Square Park; depending on assignments and client needs, employees should expect to work in person three to five days per week and live in or within reasonable commuting distance of New York City.

Requirements

  • Typically 5+ years of experience as a software engineer or full-stack developer building production or near-production systems.
  • Strong technical foundation in programming, APIs, databases, backend systems, cloud infrastructure, and software development practices.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly, navigate ambiguity, work with stakeholders, and remain calm under pressure.
  • Demonstrated initiative, ability to solve unstructured problems, receptiveness to feedback, and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Willingness to work in person three to five days per week depending on client requirements, and to be based in the New York City area or within reasonable commuting distance.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with AI, LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or agentic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with customers to navigate ambiguity, identify high-value opportunities, understand workflows, and define business outcomes for AI solutions.
  • Architect and build production AI systems, including multi-agent workflows, orchestration, tool use, context engineering, memory and state, and retrieval-augmented generation.
  • Build APIs, data pipelines, integrations, and distributed systems that support reliable operation at scale.
  • Complete the initial placement in Turing Akademia and build and demonstrate applied AI, production engineering, and client-delivery capabilities.
  • Own client outcomes and lead solutions from discovery through deployment and measurable impact.
  • Present work to stakeholders, manage expectations, explain technical decisions, and respond constructively to pushback.
  • Remain hands-on and own evaluation, observability, security, reliability, latency, scalability, and cost.

Benefits

  • Equity.
  • Opportunities to work at the frontier of AI and contribute to AI research.
  • Opportunities to showcase work at conferences such as ICLR, ICML, and NeurIPS.
  • Collaboration with colleagues with AI experience from Google, Meta, Amazon, and other leading technology companies.
