About The Position

The Forming Operator is responsible for performing various duties to ensure the overall safe and proper operation of various machinery in the forming area. This includes maintaining all safety and quality processes, adjusting machines to optimum settings, minimizing downtime and rejects, and achieving efficient output and product switchovers. The role also involves adhering to food safety responsibilities, including monitoring and enforcing cGMPs and following Good Manufacturing Practices. The position requires the ability to understand written and oral directions in English and/or Spanish.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand written and oral direction in English and/or Spanish.
  • Occasionally carry and/or lift 50 Lbs.
  • Must have the ability to routinely and frequently stand, stoop, bend, climb, fill raw material into machine.
  • Ability to walk through production areas.
  • Must be able to work in a loud environment.
  • Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • Wear proper footwear.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot assigned machines.
  • Ensure machine-specific functions, such as configuring equipment, loading, and operating machines, and optimizing machine capability.
  • Oversee basic maintenance and ensure product quality.
  • Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle and control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed).
  • Constantly feed raw material (dough and filling mixes) into proper hoppers and rollers throughout the shift.
  • Continually monitor machine operation to ensure accurate product measurements are maintained.
  • Communicate mechanical and operational issues to the maintenance team as they arise.
  • Maintain standard production rates, low waste, and meet Shine requirements.
  • Complete all necessary documentation and reports.
  • Assist in directing and training employees assigned to a specific area, looking out for safety and adherence to GMPs, and communicate and delegate tasks to team members per Supervisor’s instructions.
  • Responsible for the quality and product produced within the shift in line with the companies’ quality systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Operate machinery, equipment, and tools safely and proficiently according to standards, guidelines, and instructions and assigned machinery speeds.
  • Assemble/Disassemble machines for use or changeovers.
  • Properly lubricate all moving parts to prevent damage due to friction.
  • Read, understand, and adhere to daily production schedules.
  • Read and understand product specifications established by Shine Foods and recognize deviations from those specifications.
  • Perform clean-up activities as assigned.
  • May be assigned other duties by plant management as required.
  • Immediately report and assist in the elimination or control of any food safety issues observed to their supervisor.
  • Monitor and enforce cGMPs.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and Pre-requisite programs.
