About The Position

The Forklift Operator works in the Plant Cooler department and reports to a Supervisor or Cooler Manager. This position supports facility operations by preparing and loading trucks, handling products carefully and accurately, and contributing to quality and customer satisfaction. The role includes warehouse order fulfillment, product movement, equipment inspections, recordkeeping, inventory support, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area. The position is based in Hammond, Louisiana, and offers day or night shifts. Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Experience in a warehouse setting, particularly with order picking and material handling.
Experience operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
Ability to work well with others and maintain a safe, clean work area.
Ability to work safely and efficiently and complete daily reports.
Ability to work without direct supervision.
Excellent verbal communication, leadership, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
Willingness to learn and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to read and write English and perform basic math calculations.
Effective time-management, prioritization, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to demonstrate proficiency in essential tasks and willingness to learn.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather during trailer staging and loading, and in very hot, very cold, wet, and humid conditions for extended periods.
Ability to continually stack and unstack items weighing 50 pounds between approximately seven feet high and ground level.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to warehouse operations.
Mechanical knowledge beneficial for troubleshooting equipment issues.

Responsibilities

Execute warehouse department orders and package shipments.
Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
Move products and materials within the facility.
Follow company policies and procedures for GMPs, SOPs, quality standards, and OSHA regulations.
Pull stacks of product from refrigerated trailers and/or pallets.
Load stacks of products onto refrigerated route trucks.
Conduct routine equipment inspections to ensure proper functioning.
Maintain accurate load sheets, inventory sheets, and scrap sheets.
Handle materials carefully and perform heavy lifting safely in accordance with company policies.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Assist with inventory management by tracking product levels and reporting discrepancies.
Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals and deadlines.
Follow safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment and deliver products in optimal condition.
Perform other duties as assigned.
