Forklift Operator - Warehouse Associate
About The Position
MainOcean Carolinas LLC is a family-run, regionally focused logistics and supply chain company serving the Southeast and Gulf Coast. The Forklift Operator serves a key role in warehouse operations by safely and efficiently operating forklifts and supporting inventory management, order picking, material handling, shipping, and receiving. The work helps ensure customers’ products are loaded, unloaded, and handled accurately and on time. The role involves operating reach trucks, clamp trucks, standard forklifts, and other heavy equipment; moving and organizing products in warehouse areas; checking inventory and orders; and maintaining a safe, clean work area. The position works in indoor and outdoor environments and may involve high temperatures, substantial noise, moving machinery and vehicles, fumes, odors or dust, narrow spaces, and elevated work areas. Weekend work may be needed. The position has no direct reports.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Proven proficiency operating various types of forklifts in a warehouse or similar environment.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems and processes.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret work orders and shipping documents.
- Strong knowledge of material-handling techniques and best practices.
- Proficiency in order picking and inventory management procedures.
- Ability to load, unload, and move materials while maintaining balance and stability.
- Familiarity with inventory control processes and systems.
- Strong accuracy when handling products and completing paperwork.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly.
- Effective communication skills.
- Friendly, cheerful, can-do demeanor.
- Excellent time and task management skills.
- Adaptability to shifting priorities and effectiveness in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Flexible team player.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors, in heat, loud noise, around hazards and atmospheric conditions, in narrow aisles or spaces, and at elevated heights up to 25 feet using a lift or aerial platform; occasional ladder use is required.
- Ability to perform the listed physical activities, including heavy work, climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, sustained standing or sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and smelling.
Responsibilities
- Operate reach trucks, clamp trucks, standard forklifts, and other types of forklifts.
- Safely load and unload materials from trucks and storage areas according to customer requirements.
- Move materials within the warehouse using forklifts and other heavy equipment.
- Assist with shipping and receiving, including checking inventory and verifying orders.
- Collaborate with Warehouse Supervisors to support efficient warehouse operations.
- Organize customers’ products by type or lot number.
- Perform routine forklift maintenance checks and report issues or malfunctions.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Contribute to ongoing efforts to improve experiences with MainOcean.
- Work weekends as needed.
