Forklift Operator (CDL-A Yard Jockey)
About The Position
Nestlé is hiring a CDL-A Yard Jockey / Forklift Operator at its factory in Dunkirk, New York. The factory produces household pet-care brands and describes environmental efforts that include conserving water, investing in renewable electricity, and maintaining zero waste for disposal. The operator safely and efficiently operates forklifts and yard equipment, completes pre-operational equipment checks, and moves trailers to docks or other yard locations. The position includes becoming a certified forklift operator and reviewing and actively participating in risk assessments. The role requires openness to working all shifts, overtime, and weekends.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Class A CDL with driving experience.
- At least 6 months of forklift or heavy equipment operating experience in a warehouse, industrial, construction, or military environment.
- Must be open to working all shifts, overtime, and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate, monitor, and troubleshoot throughout the yard.
- Operate a forklift to load and unload trucks, perform line hauling, and stock materials.
- Monitor storage reefer temperatures and fuel levels.
- Assist carrier drivers on the premises.
- Perform preventive routines, including basic lubrication, repairs, and inspections; identify defects and complete or coordinate repairs.
- Maintain yard cleanliness and organization.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on yard equipment.
- Move trailers to docks or various yard locations.
- Review and actively participate in risk assessments.
