About The Position
The Forklift Operator helps maintain organized storage of warehouse rolls and pallets and assists shipping with reviewing bills of lading or receiving slips so customer orders are processed accurately and efficiently. The role involves preparing production and slitter lines, moving and tracking rolls, assisting with truck loading and unloading, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment. The operator may also fill in as a warehouse forklift operator and perform other related duties as needed.
Requirements
- GED or high school diploma, or previous manufacturing experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform forklift checks, maintain proper working order, and report problems or needed maintenance.
- Remain observant and alert to surroundings.
- Organize rolls and pallets to use space efficiently and prevent material damage.
- Communicate with supervisors and slitter operators to determine their needs and keep production moving.
- Set up rolls and pallets for production lines.
- Set up rolls for the slitter.
- Keep a log of rolls returned to stock, including roll number, length, width, gauge, and location.
- Pull orders from storage locations to the slitter.
- Assist with putting trash in dumpsters.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks.
- Fill in as a warehouse forklift operator when needed.
- Follow company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Maintain a clean work environment by performing cleaning duties when required.
- Perform other related or additional duties as requested.
